Dancing all night with no money to pay the fiddler

All the wrangling on Capital Hill about the debt limit is an indicator of and old saying my folks used to bring up, "If you dance all night you have to pay the fiddler in the morning." Another one is "someday all the chickens will come home to roost." These types of old sayings are almost vanished from the American lexicon, but if they were used more, perhaps the common sense and integrity in electing good leaders would return to our citizenry. We as citizens have been willing to hire out our civic responsibility for so long that now we face economic disaster because of the malfeasance practiced by those who are running our government. And those trying to actually fix it are condemned by the media and others.

Republicans cannot agree how to proceed with the debt limit. Some want to kick the can down the road with the president's idea of cutting $2 trillion from the government budget over ten years. Anyone with any sense knows that will never happen. Every Congress and every president over the next ten years will have their fingers in the pie and ignoring the public relations promise they made. Most all the Republicans refuse to accept the president's thirst for raising taxes to pay for the debt problem, or creating "revenues" on a "balanced approach," as the president deceptively calls it. When he says revenue and balance that means taxes that you are going to pay.

So what happened to common sense? Did you know that with all the so-called stimulus spending by this president, something near a trillion dollars, the economy created more jobs on its own? That the jobs the so-called stimulus created cost you and me $278,000 per job? The economy since all the stimulus money was spent (and no one can document where all of it went) has created nearly 300,000 jobs on its own? This is proof positive that the government should not be involved in the economy aside from making sure the playing field is fair. It should also be a very strong indicator that the tax and spend mentality does not work and that we have to do something different.

Jesus said in John 10:12, 13, "But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep." The politicians in Washington have acted like hirelings for so long that they have forgotten how to be shepherds. And the wolves have scattered them with vain words and apocalyptic predictions. Their aim is not to save the sheep, but to fleece them before their time, leaving them with no defense but to submit. We have allowed this terror by ignoring the signs, now its time to pay the fiddler and there is no money left to do it.

Whose your dictator?

The Daily Jot

Whose your dictator?

How many times have you seen a politician accuse another politician of taking bribes or having an affair or lying about something only to find that he is doing exactly what he accused? Now the Democratic National Committee Chairwoman, Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz is accusing House Republicans of dictatorship in the debt ceiling debate. She told Politico, "This is almost like dictatorship. I know they want to force the outcome that ... their extremists would like to impose. But they are getting ready to spark panic and chaos, and they seem to be OK with that." It seems that whenever the Democrats do not get their way, Republicans become extremists and now add to that, dictators.

What is extreme about requiring a government that has spent nearly $4 trillion that it did not have in the past three years to cut spending and live within its means? And what is dictatorship about a healthy debate and political pressure being applied by the American people to have government be responsible stewards? And who has recently said he would rather just raise the debt ceiling without Congressional approval? And who has actually supported such an action? First, there is nothing extreme or compulsory about good stewardship and debating how to achieve it. And second, you will not be surprised about who is actually suggesting dictatorship-style resolution to this debate, and is serious about it.

Third Ranking House Democrat, South Carolina's James Clyburn suggests that the president should veto the Republican bill and raise the debt ceiling himself using Section 4 of the Constitution's 14th Amendment. Section 4 states: "The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned. But neither the United States nor any State shall assume or pay any debt or obligation incurred in aid of insurrection or rebellion against the United States, or any claim for the loss or emancipation of any slave; but all such debts, obligations and claims shall be held illegal and void."

Indeed the president himself on July 25 discussing allowing amnesty to illegal immigrants said, "Believe me, the idea of doing things on my own is very tempting. I promise you not just on immigration reform." Obviously, the 14th Amendment has nothing to do with the debt ceiling and bad stewardship. But obvious as well, there are certain people who wish to take dictatorial actions. And there are others who are working within the system. They are called extremists. Indeed, it will take extreme actions to get the tax and spenders to stop their dictatorial grip on the American household. Isaiah 5: 20 says, "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness."

US Government caught arming Mexican drug cartels

US Government caught arming Mexican drug cartels

The United State government authorized and allowed gun dealers to sell thousands of weapons to "straw" purchasers for Mexican drug cartels. The guns were used as part of the drug cartel's war against the Mexican government which has ended up in the killing of over 35,000 people in Mexico during the past four years. Now the anti-gun forces in Congress are using this as a poster child for tightening reporting requirements for gun dealers along the Mexican border when in reality it was the White House's program that wanted to arm Mexican drug cartels and trace the weapons to make arrests. The plan backfired, resulting in the deaths of at least one, maybe two American law enforcement officers.

California Republican Congressman Darrell Issa is holding hearings on this massive abuse of government authority. Issa is trying to get to the bottom of who knew what, and when they knew it. The Administration has stonewalled Issa's investigation and has to date written letters to Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Agents intimidating them not to reveal to Issa's committee what they know. So far, Issa has confirmed that knowledge of operation "Fast and Furious" reaches the doorstep of US Attorney General Eric Holder, who denies he knew anything about it. Issa says that either the Attorney General knew about the operation and has lied to Congress or he is so detached that he was not doing his job.

Issa told the Washington Times, "How is it that the No. 2, 3, 4 at Justice all knew about this program, but the No. 1 didn't? Is it because he said 'don't tell me'? Is it because they knew what they were doing is wrong, and they were protecting their boss? Or is it that Eric Holder is just so disconnected that he makes a speech on April 2, 2009 essentially describing advances in gun runner additional activities that describe operation Fast and Furious, but then he never checks again until he reads the newspaper two weeks before he comes to us long after the investigation is underway." Issa says the operation showed a "callous disregard" for the impact the weapons had on the Mexican people and US citizens.

Now there is the cover up. The Administration is trying to intimidate witnesses not to answer certain questions, according to a letter to ATF agents that was uncovered by Issa. When the government is in a huge quandary over massive debt, unemployment and wars, how on earth can someone make the decision to arm drug runners in Mexico? This is separation of church and state at its finest. If people elected real Christians to office, who as Exodus 18:21 says "fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness" they would have understanding of basic right and wrong. It is wrong to give weapons to unlawful thugs. It is wrong to cover it up. And it is wrong to use it to restrict guns to law abiding citizens whom the government refuses to protect.

Perilous times and the debt debate

The word of God states in 2 Timothy 3:1-5 "This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, truce-breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away." Anyone watching the president of the United States in the debt debate has seen all of this. Even the Washington Times asked in bold headlines, "Is the president a pathological liar?"

Plain speak is what we need to hear. And plain speak is that when you spend and borrow so much that you cannot pay your bills, you must cut back on your spending. American households just cannot spend more because there is nothing to spend in the family coffers. On a much larger scale, that is what has happened to America--faster under this president than all the others in history combined. Now even Democratic leaders in Congress are reluctantly agreeing with Republicans that there must be deep cuts in government programs without tax increases on an already burdened citizenry to fix the problem. The man who occupies the Oval Office is all alone in his rhetoric for a "balanced approach."

He is all alone because he is point blank lying to the American people about the situation. Insiders on the Hill in both parties are now saying the president is not telling the truth. The American people cannot afford any more government. In fact, it is out of control to the point that government spending threatens not only the national security, but also the future of every American citizen, young and old. The president is trying to make this a classic communistic class struggle between the haves and the have nots, but this is not what this debate is about. You should not hate your fellow America for being successful. His success is tied to your success and well being. This is about responsible fiscal stewardship.

The president has threatened to not pay social security or veterans benefits if the debt ceiling is not raised in a way that he can continue to tax citizens and grow the government. He is blaming his actions on those who disagree with him, saying they will force him to withhold payments. Pensions and social security are in trusts. If there is not enough money in these trusts, who stole it? Even those believing in social justice know that there is a limit to what the government can do--the limit of draining the people's every possession that it might be redistributed to someone else. Indeed, perilous times have come. The right answers are found in God's economy. You have to know the Bible, however, to understand them.

The spirit behind mass killings

The spirit behind mass killings

The world is trying to make sense of the bombing and subsequent youth camp shooting rampage in Norway that left over 90 people dead. Initially several news organizations, including the New York Times, reported that a little known terrorist group claimed credit for the killings. The NYT reported that Ansar al-Jihad al-Alami claimed responsibility, but later retracted. Later in the day as events unraveled, that story was buried and a new story emerged: That "right-wing extremist" Anders Behring Breivik acted alone in an insane attempt to create a "crusade" against Islam. Reports now profile Breivik as an admirer of Russian leader Vladimir Putin, and reportedly lists his religion as "Christian" on Facebook.

It is difficult to explain why these things happen. It is not so difficult to explain why these horrible events quickly become political with everyone trying to blame their favorite political enemy. There is one thing for certain, there are evil people in the world wishing to do evil to others. Some act alone. Others act in small groups. But there is one that does so worldwide with clarity of position and is unapologetic of its actions--and that is Islam. From human slavery to drug running to murdering innocent people in the name of their god, Islam is a political system that destroys people. Whether the Norway killer acted alone, or with a small group or was part of a bigger group, he shares the same spirit of destruction.

For years people have looked at conspiracy theories from the American government invoking the 911 terrorist attacks to the various theories behind the Oklahoma City bombings--where like in Norway, innocent children were put to death. Certainly, the left likes to point at people that commit these heinous acts and say they are representative of conservatives or Christians. If they are conservative, they are not typical of political and social conservatives in America. The TEA Party, as some have suggested, did not have anything to do with the Norway massacre. As a follower and disciple of Jesus Christ, I can say with certainty that Christianity did not have anything to do with the killings either.

There is one thing that connects the Oklahoma City bombings with the Norway massacre with the 911 terrorist attacks with the attacks against Israel, and with Islam. Jesus said it in John 10:10-11, "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep." The spirit of satan destroys life. The Spirit of Christ gives life and protects life so much that it sacrifices itself to preserve life. The politicians and the psychiatrists and the analysts will try for years to figure this out and blame someone or something. They probably won't conclude that its just evil doing evil.

Homeland Security video pits Americans against Americans

In April 2009, the Department of Homeland Security under the new administration issued a report on "Rightwing Extremism" in the United States. The report depicted as possible terrorists those interested in end times prophecies; concerned about a possible economic collapse; opposed to illegal immigration, abortion, and same sex marriage; opposed to restrictions on the right to bear arms; and Americans who are returning veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan. Now, a new DHS video release depicts mostly white Americans as terrorist suspects and encourages all Americans to spy on their neighbors and report any suspicious activity to the government.

The 10 minute video makes a point to say that terrorists are not a specific race, religion or gender, but rather comprise specific behaviors that are suspicious and out of ordinary. The video is entitled "If you see something, say something." Throughout the movie it has several black people reporting the suspicious activities of white people. In fact, of the approximately 22 people portrayed as terrorists in the video, 17 are white males, two are white females, one is a black female, one is a black male, and one is a Muslim of Middle Eastern descent. The Muslim is only found on a newspaper headline with his name beside his picture. All but three of the others are actually committing suspicious acts.

The underlying messages of this video are incredible. Blacks are encouraged to report to the Department of Homeland Security any suspicious activities of whites. Whites are predominantly purveyors of terrorism in America. Terrorism is not connected to any religion or race, except whites. Truth is, this is a $10 million taxpayer funded class warfare propaganda film pitting Americans against Americans on the basis of race, while at the same time ignoring the very fact that the overwhelming majority of terrorist acts are perpetrated by followers of Islam. That the government of the United States would propagate such suspicion and distrust among its people is immoral and un-American.

Jesus said in John 15:12-13, "This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." Our government should be promoting the natural affection we should have for one another as countrymen, not trying to divide us with race or religious oriented suspicion. Our government should encourage us to help one another in love, not to spy on one another in distrust. Our government should encourage a class structure that unifies us toward liberty and justice for all rather than to pit us against one another. Jesus also said in Mark 3:24, "And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand." Yet this is the division being promoted by our very own government.

Congressman Walsh and taking a stand with him

Congressman Walsh and taking a stand with him

Maybe you are getting tired of the debate. Maybe you just do not want to hear it anymore. But now is not the time to give in. Do you realize what the politicians in Washington are doing? They are moving down the path of raising taxes without cutting spending in order to allow the government to borrow more money. The debt ceiling talk is very simple: The government needs to borrow more money in order to service its debt. That is like you and I running all our credit to their maximum and then borrowing more money to just make the interest payments on the debt. What Americans are watching before their very eyes on the grand national stage is political maneuvering to eventually do nothing.

Here is what is about to happen if things continue as they are. The senate will offer up a debt ceiling plan that the president will sign. That means there will be a tax increase and some number of trillions of dollars that will be reduced in the government's budget. It will sound good, but that number is likely spread over a 10 year period, so it is worthless. Worthless because in the next ten years there will be at least three presidential elections, and five Congressional elections. Those numbers will change with the political wind. There will be at least two votes on the senate version, and finally Congressmen will say they had to vote for it otherwise the nation will default. Game over.

This could change if Americans will stand. Illinois Republican Congressman Joe Walsh has circulated a letter to his fellow congressmen calling on the Speaker of the House to prevent the Senate plan from coming to a vote in the House. Walsh writes: "Senator McConnell's plan is business as usual and does not offer any real solution to runaway spending." So far it is reported that some 80 Congressmen have signed on. If you want to make a stand here, encourage your congressman to consider the Walsh letter. At least Walsh is trying to stop this political chicanery. Many House congressmen took a no tax pledge before being elected. This is the test of their integrity and whether their word is their bond.

Exodus 18:21 tells us what kind of people should be elected to office, "Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness." We are seeing whether any of them in Congress right now measure up to these standards. Are they able to do what is right? Do any of them respect God? Are their actions truthful? Do they hate covetousness? When they seek to do many votes to say they voted a certain way to one group of people and another way to another group, this is not truth. When they vote to raise more taxes to support government addiction to your money, that is covetousness. Hold them accountable, you may be surprised with positive results!

Absent political will, debt reduction has no chance

The buzz around Washington DC is that the Republican Party in the House of Representatives finally stood for something in passing the TEA Party Cut, Cap and Balance bill by a 234-190 vote. The bill cuts federal spending by $6 trillion and requires a balanced budget amendment to be brought before the states for ratification. Now all the conservatives are happy. Showed those tax hiking, big government liberals for sure. TEA Party activists are excited over the victory. But there is just one problem. The legislation does not have a chance to become law. Read the letters N-O-T--A--C-H-A-N-C-E. It does not have a chance for several reasons.

The Senate is full of pontificators who will not even allow the bill to the floor for a vote. Already, the Senate, aided by Republicans who care less about financial stewardship, are cooking up a trillion dollar tax increase that the president supports. The president will veto Cut, Cap and Balance and there are not enough votes to override the veto. They are too busy finding more ways to redistribute citizen's money to the government--not the poor, mind you. And not to pay the debts of the government--to redistribute the money to grow the government. Its time the American people see through this scheme. The Cut, Cap and Balance bill passed by the Republicans was window-dressing and politics as usual.

At the end of the day, its just a feel good, barely a moral victory. Not even the Congressmen who passed this bill likely believe it is anything more than an opportunity to go home and tell constituents that they voted to balance the budget and reduce the debt, but the Senate and the president wouldn't support it. That somehow gets them off the hook and makes it all right that business goes on as usual--more taxes, more debt, more political games. Cynical no, reality yes. If these 234 Congressman really wanted to see that bill pass, they should have the political will to shut down the government to get it. Not out of spite. Not because its good politics. But because it is the right thing to do for the future of the country.

Unless the House Republicans make a stand, this bill is the end of the fight, and they all will move on to another paradigm to pretend to solve the debt issue. Window dressing above accountability. We need Isaiah 50:7 Americans in Congress: "For the Lord God will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed." These representatives need to press their belief in a debt free nation and not be ashamed. Good stewardship and accountability are basic tenets of Biblical living. Psalm 144:15 says, "Happy is that people, whose God is the Lord." Trouble is we are often far away from the Lord's precepts, even when it looks like we are close.

Jane Fonda: Of Extremists, Forgiveness and Consequences

In 2001, actress Jane Fonda announced she had become a Christian. While we cannot judge her heart, only the Lord knows, we do know her actions. Fonda, whose nickname is Hanoi Jane, is miffed because QVC Network cancelled her appearance to sell her new book. She assumes that angry calls about her anti-American activities in Vietnam prompted the network to cancel. She told the news media, "I am, to say the least, deeply disappointed that QVC caved to this kind of insane pressure by some well-funded and organized political extremist groups." The network neither confirmed nor denied that assumption. In this story lies a lesson on forgiveness and accountability.

In 1972, Fonda went to Hanoi and did a series of radio broadcasts for the communists, calling American military leaders "war criminals." She also posed on an anti-aircraft battery for publicity photos. Fonda was a leader of the anti-war, pro-communist movement once telling Michigan State students to pray "that we would someday become communists." In a 1988 interview with Barbara Walters, Fonda apologized to Vietnam veterans, saying, "...I will go to my grave regretting the photograph of me in an anti-aircraft gun, which looks like I was trying to shoot at American planes. It hurt so many soldiers. It galvanized such hostility. It was the most horrible thing I could possibly have done. It was just thoughtless..."

Fonda seems bitter that people still hold her actions against her. After all, Jesus is very serious about forgiveness. He says in Matthew 6:14, 15, "For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." She believes that she should be forgiven for posing on communist anti-aircraft guns, but she still maintains that US military leaders are war criminals. She has never denounced her support of communism nor her role in trying to persuade the world that tortured POWs were receiving humane treatment. It seems she wants forgiven for getting caught, but remains unrepentant of her actions.

Since becoming a "Christian" Fonda has supported the Palestinian terrorists over Israel. She has served as a mentor to the all-transexual cast of "The Vagina Monologues." She has recently meditated three hours a day at the Upaya Zen Center, a Zen Buddhist Retreat, wishing "Upaya was huge so everyone could benefit from what is done, taught, learned here...bringing together the Zen Buddhist practice with science and the arts and making it accessible to the Western world." Christian? Remorseful of her anti-American actions? Fonda is a victim of her own devices, not understanding that while sins are forgiven, there are still consequences to the actions. Yet those who point to Fonda's actions are, in her mind, the extremists.

The leadership vacuum and the blame game

The president on Friday took his case of raising the debt ceiling to the people in a news conference at the White House. His statement and answers to questions were very clear: he blames Congress for running up the debt; he blames Republicans for refusing a tax increase--what he calls a "balanced approach" or "revenues"; he continued to use Social Security, and even health care, as an area where cuts needed to be made; he said he had not studied the Republican plan, yet he said "I have not seen a credible plan." These are the ramblings of a man who instead of providing sound leadership in time of a crisis, is shifting blame and dodging answers.

It is a known fact that this president, and up until last year, his Democratic-controlled Congress, operated without a budget. In doing so, he and his political party added to the national debt a record breaking $4 trillion since January 20, 2009. He has done in two years almost as much as George W Bush did in eight years (a $4.9 trillion increase). The national debt stands at $14,356,849,859,165 and is increasing at a rate of about $80,000 per minute. As an American citizen your share of the national debt is $46,542. As a taxpayer, your share of the national debt is $129,835. Where does this money come from? If you had to pay it today for our nation to survive, would you be able to? Probably not.

This is the situation in which our elected representatives have placed us. The national debt is not a difficult thing to understand. If you have a mortgage, for example, you have personal or family debt. If you buy too much of a house and too much of a car and you run up your credit cards, you will have to make payments on this debt. When you cannot afford to make these payments, something has to give. The way you probably would handle it as a family is by cutting expenses, selling off the expensive items, or get a better paying job. The White House's idea of handling it is raising the debt ceiling, which allows the government to borrow more money. The president wants to raise taxes so he can borrow more money.

Common sense implies that you cannot spend more than you have or you will be in big trouble. When billions of dollars are being spent on frivolous studies, repairing mosques, aid to terrorist groups, funding death machines like Planned Parenthood and on and on and on, Americans need to insist on the very "unbalanced" approach of good stewardship and accountability. The future of your family is at stake. Right now we have an Isaiah 59:4 situation in our country: "None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity." We as a people need to stand, speak boldly, and hold the line on accountability.

Judge Banning Graduation Prayer Now Quoting The Bible

US District Court Judge Fred Biery, whose decision to prohibit any mention of God at the Medina Valley High School graduation in Texas was overturned by the higher court, has now ordered that he should be notified by July 21 if the opposing parties plan a lengthy and expensive litigation. Biery, who tried to ruin graduation, has cost taxpayers aplenty in legal fees, and trampled the Constitution, now seems to be appealing to Christian mercy. The San Antonio Express News reported Biery wrote: "The adults on both sides not only have a responsibility to teach, but also are stewards of financial resources best used for education of children, as opposed to litigation among adults."

The judge even tried to quote the Bible apparently to get the school district to let bygones be bygones. His quotes, however, were more picking out what he wanted to get his point across. For example, Biery quoted God saying "Come let us reason together." Isaiah 1:18 really says, "Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool." Another was Romans 8:28 where the judge said, "All things work together for good." The verse actually says, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."

Picking nits? No, because this illustrates that the judge perhaps wants to use the Bible to get the Christians in Texas to pipe down in bringing attention that his political views rule over his legal decisions. Assistant Superintendent Chris Martinez told the News, "Our leadership team does not believe we are going to settle simply for the sake of settling. We're going to support the constitutional rights of our students and their freedom of expression. ... This has never been an 'us versus them' situation. This is what is right for our students." 'Seems maybe Biery picked the wrong fight with the wrong people in his attempt to shut down Christian prayer and free speech.

You see, Biery is in hot water. Judges are supposed to uphold the Constitution, not obstruct it. By overturning Biery's decision, the higher court proved that Biery ruled against the First Amendment. His decision not only trampled on the right to freely exercise religion, but also freedom of speech. His decision also promised to cost the school district a healthy sum in legal fees to defend what the Constitution says is a right. Now he invokes the Bible to promote stewardship. Biery's sudden religious appeasement also could be the result of another group of Texans, the AGAPE Movement, who have asked him to resign and are pursuing his impeachment for obstructing the Constitution and violating his oath of office.

Presidential threats and tantrums signal need for change

Virginia Republican Congressman Eric Cantor told FOX News that the president stormed out of debt ceiling meetings at the White House on Wednesday saying, 'Ronald Reagan wouldn't sit here. You either have to compromise on the dollar figure or the grand bargain' ... He said 'don't call my bluff. I'm going to the American people on this.'" The president is right to a certain extent saying that Ronald Reagan wouldn't have sat through that. Reagan would have had the issue resolved by now. Reagan would not have threatened senior citizens, veterans, and the disabled with cutting off their Social Security. But this president, when someone disagrees with his socialist spending agenda, throws a tantrum and walks out.

The debate over the debt ceiling appears to me to have many meanings. From the macro point of view, it is the debate over whether the government can continue to spend your tax dollars at a rate of about $80,000 per minute. Raising the debt ceiling only enables this covetousness to continue. If there is continuous raising of the debt limit without true budget cuts, and I am not talking about amounts over a ten year period, the government will continue to grow larger with greater debt and eventually the weight of that debt will collapse the economy, if it hasn't already. This is exactly what socialists want because it will make the government the central part of the economy, with people dependent on the government.

When people are dependent on the government, the government can then threaten them, as the president has threatened senior citizens, the disabled and veterans with withholding life sustaining needs to get what he wants. Good stewardship is not spending taxpayer money to renovate Islamic mosques in other countries, or to fund the president's disbanded grass roots organizing group, ACORN, in its re-birthed subsidiaries, or nation building efforts with a terrorist organization such as the Muslim Brotherhood, or the murderous Planned Parenthood, or funding Muslim businesses overseas. Good stewardship is also not robbing the Social Security Trust Fund to fund other government programs. This must be stopped.

This nation is at a crossroads. The president storming out of a meeting invoking Ronald Reagan and throwing a passive aggressive temper tantrum is not good reason to continue government spending at lethal levels. National security and the general welfare of the public is at stake. Now more than ever we need to collectively become a 2 Chronicles 7:14 people, "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." Our sin is not following the word of God in the first place and it has gotten us into a lot of trouble. Let's change that. Let's decide today to change the course of this nation.

President holds seniors for ransom in debt talks

The president of the United States is threatening to withhold Social Security checks from senior citizens if he does not get his way on raising taxes as part of a deal to allow his government to borrow billions, if not trillions, of dollars beyond the debt limits set by Congress. He told CBS Evening News, "I cannot guarantee that those checks go out on August 3rd if we haven't resolved this issue. Because there may simply not be the money in the coffers to do it." That a president would hold senior citizens for ransom is beyond belief and shows a lack of compassion and character. Of course, he will try to blame his position on Republicans, but there are many other ways to ensure that seniors get their checks.

The money can come from many other sources within the government--from shutting down agencies or departments to staff reductions on a burgeoning government that has become so large that it is a burden to all Americans. But threatening to cut off senior citizens? Really? As a young Capital Hill staffer in the 1980s, all I heard was how the Republicans were going to take away social security from seniors. The Democratic Party ran ad after ad saying that the Republicans wanted to take social security from those who worked so hard all their years to deserve even a meager retirement provided by the government. Republicans wanted to take away what seniors paid into all those years. Elections were won or lost on this.

Politicians know they cannot win elections without senior citizens. And the biggest sacred cow in all of government is Social Security. It is the perfect example of what the Founding Fathers warned against. In 1794 James Madison objected to benevolence spending on the House floor, saying, "I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents." Benjamin Franklin said, " When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the Republic." When government makes people depend on it, people are beholden to those who can grant them their needs.

This is exactly what happens when a significant voting block becomes so dependent that many, if not most, could not survive without government payments--they become pawns on a political chessboard. Let it be known that it is the president himself who heartlessly is using senior citizens as pawns because he wants to spend more money and raise taxes and Congress is not giving him what he wants. Agree or disagree with Social Security, millions of hard working Americans have grown dependent on it. And it morally cannot be pulled from them without transition. This president is threatening just that. He surely will blame it on someone else. Jesus said in Matthew 7:16, "Ye shall know them by their fruits."

Is real persecution around the corner?

The story of Yosef Nadarkhani is relevant to every American citizen. Nadarkhani is a 32 year old evangelical pastor who became a Christian when he was 19. He lives in Iran. In October 2009, he was arrested for apostasy. He had objected to Islam being taught to Christian children in Iranian schools. He was sentenced to be hanged. Upon appeal to the Iranian Supreme Court, the sentence was modified. The Human Rights Activist News Agency reported on July 2 that the case may be returned to the lower court for re-examination, previous charges may be withdrawn while new charges are filed, or the case may be closed and charges dropped.

The news agency says that the case has not yet been referred to the lower court. This may mean that charges will be dropped and new charges will be filed. The new charges are likely to center on Nadarkhani being an apostate and that he has preached Christianity. While Iran ostensibly has freedom of religion, the Iranian Constitution allows the courts to question whether a defendant is of Islam. If the defendant is not, then he is an apostate and can be sentenced to death. In this case, Nadarkhani can deny he is a Christian by saying he is a Muslim and live or he can continue to proclaim he is a Christian and die. The US State Department has expressed its outrage to the Iranian government, CNSNews reports.

The freedom of religion in Islam is very simple. You have the freedom to choose Islam. If you do not, and you are caught, you will likely be put to death unless you recant and swear to be a believer in Islam. This is important to Americans because if we continue to allow the deterioration of our Bill of Rights, especially the First Amendment, by the US courts and through social tolerance, the First Amendment may someday mean the same thing as the Iranian Constitution. There is religious freedom, but there is no religious choice. Galatians 5:1 says, "Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage."

Our Founding Fathers had the foresight to establish freedom of speech and freedom of religion as your right in the Supreme Law of the Nation--The US Constitution. We must choose our leaders wisely and hold them accountable otherwise every humanist, homosexual, Islamist, socialist, communist, and even some brands of Christians will do everything they can to take this right away. These are the deceivers and the deceived. It is our job to rightly discern. This is done through prayer, through your close relationship with the Lord, and by checking all things against the Word of God to make sure your discernment is correct--it is not an emotional, self-indulgent, self-righteous response, but one well grounded in the Holy Scriptures of the Bible.

Turning the corner: Abyss or Utopia?

Turning the corner: Abyss or Utopia?

On June 13, the president met with his Council on Jobs and Competitiveness. Council members were explaining that the government bureaucracy often delayed or even caused to be abandoned jobs projects funded by the economic stimulus package. He joked that "shovel ready was not as shovel-ready as we expected." They all had a good laugh. On Friday, July 8, the president praised the unemployment report which showed that the unemployment rate increased by a tenth of a point to 9.2%. He said, "Today is an encouraging day. We learned that the economy actually produced a substantial number of jobs instead of losing a substantial number of jobs. We are turning the corner."

Unemployment has risen from 7.3 percent when the "stimulus" was under debate to 9.2 percent. Since the president took office, debt has soared from just under $10 trillion to nearly $14.5 trillion. The Council of Economic Advisors reports that 2.4 million jobs were added or saved because of the stimulus program, but they cost taxpayers $278,000 per job. The report indicates that in the past six months the economy has added or saved more jobs on its own than with the stimulus. In other words, the president's policies are spending a lot of your taxpayer money with little to no impact. To hear the president say it, there were 162,000 jobs gained. In reality, Bloomberg reports payrolls increased by only 18,000.

From laughing about government obstacles to jobs with his Jobs Council to misleading the public on the truly negative impact of his policies, the president appears to be right on track with his campaign promise of remaking America. To suggest that "we are turning the corner" when millions of Americans are jobless and the unemployment figures are rising higher, the president seems to have a different plumb line than the common man. What if "turning the corner" actually meant that he believed his administration was on track for literally destroying the economy so that there would be massive government dependence and a socialist government could then replace the Republic, and the "remaking" of America would be complete?

If this were true, he wouldn't be lying about turning the corner--but economic abyss and severe hardship would be the unseen sinkhole just around that corner. At the same time, the liars are figuring and the figures are lying with regard to the current debate about allowing the government to borrow more money to stay in business. Government is too big for a reason--the ruling class of politicians wants your undivided loyalty to its humanist agenda. So who's your daddy? As is in Joshua 24:15, "as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." Accountability, responsibility, stewardship are all part of good and reasonable service. In a nation where the people have a say, we need to stand and make our voices heard.

Students to know homosexual history, but not how to sign their name

Students to know homosexual history, but not how to sign their name

Liberals are always featuring education as the key to the future of America. Its an easy sell. We all want our kids to have a good education. But when a liberal is promoting education, he is not likely on the same page as the rest of us. The liberal is not necessarily thinking about reading, writing and arithmetic, unless it is in the context of how to conduct social engineering through those subjects. Reading, for example, might be learning how to read or how to analyze great literary works written by Marxists. Writing might be learning how to properly extol the virtues of socialism. And math might be like how our government does it--spending yourself into oblivion so you can be dependent on the government.

There are several examples of what is happening in education that have been reported this week. The California legislature has passed a bill making it mandatory for public schools to teach homosexual history, specifically the "Fair Education Act." Elevating the homosexual lifestyle to the minority status of African Americans, Hispanics and Native Americans, California lawmakers are forcing schools to teach about lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered people's contribution to history and society. One legislator objected saying that the law promotes the homosexual agenda by teaching kids that the lifestyle is good. This could spread across America in standard textbooks.

Blaming poor decisions on budget cuts, Illinois will no longer test students on their writing skills during standardized exams every spring. According to AP, Oregon and Missouri also decided to cut out writing exams. Illinois Schools Superintendent Christopher Koch told the Chicago Tribune that Illinois was trying to minimize the damage of budget cuts and since the federal government does not pay for the writing testing, it was sacrificed. Koch is saying, however, that advanced placement students will be tested in writing, and others will be tested in the college entrance exams. One teacher summed it up for AP, saying that not having to focus on writing tests "offers some freedom."

It also offers taxpayers and parents insight that they need to take greater care in knowing what goes on at their children's schools. Some 41 states, for example, have adopted the new Common Core Standards for English which does not require cursive writing. With all their millions of dollars from property taxes, one would think that we could get more out of our public schools than kids that know homosexual history but cannot sign their name. Jesus said in Luke 17:2, "It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend (meaning entice to sin or scandalize) one of these little ones." We need to raise our voices because ultimately we are responsible for our children.

The purposeful dismantling of America

The purposeful dismantling of America

In the past few weeks, even months, several well respected radio talk show hosts have been saying that the president of the United States is doing all he can to destroy America--on purpose. With varying degrees of passion, they have been shouting out to anyone who will listen that the president is a Marxist and he is purposely dismantling every aspect of American society in order to force its citizens to become dependent on the government, which, in turn, will remake the government into a socialist entity. Some have even suggested that the opening of the door to all things Muslim plays into the Marxist plan because Islam is a strong armed socialist system.

The evidence is clear before the American people if the scales would fall off their eyes. Just yesterday, the president made history by being the first president to hold a town hall meeting on twitter. His charismatic and casual nature was a winner on camera, but there is just one hitch. He misrepresented the truth, especially on the issue of jobs and the economy. Here is what he said about White House salaries: " By the way, people who work in the White House, they've had their pay frozen since I came in, our high-wage folks. So they haven't had a raise in two and a half years, and that's appropriate, because a lot of ordinary folks out there haven't, either. In fact, they've seen their pay cut in some cases."

In truth, Gawker.com reports "Of the 270 White House staffers who have been there for more than a year, 146-or 54%-received raises. The average salary increase was 8%." In addition, the average White House salary of $81,765 was 65% above the median household income. On jobs the president said, "And over the last 15 months, we've actually seen two million jobs created in the private sector." His own handpicked Council of Economic Advisors reports that those 2.4 million jobs added or saved because of the stimulus program cost taxpayers $278,000 per job. The report indicates that in the past six months the economy has added or saved more jobs on its own than with the stimulus.

Moreover, unemployment has risen from 7.3 percent when the "stimulus" was under debate to 9.1 percent. Since the president took office debt has soared from just under $10 trillion to nearly $14.5 trillion. From the use of American resources to overthrow governments in favor of Islam to the dismantling of the American free market system, one can only conclude that this president is deliberately remaking America. Neither Congress nor the Judiciary seem interested in opposing it. It is the citizenry who must stand otherwise American freedom will be a footnote in history. Proverbs 29:2 is wisdom: "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked bear rule, the people mourn."

Muslim Brotherhood infiltration at the president's invitation

Muslim Brotherhood infiltration at the president's invitation

The US president appears to have embarked on a deliberate strategy to embrace radical Islam by partnering with Islamic organizations calling for the demise of the United States, and by assigning Islamists to key strategic positions that oversee the security of the nation, aspects of the judiciary, and are intimate aides to high level administration appointees. The Administration's public position is that these relationships are in the best interest of the United States in promoting tolerance in America and democracy in the Middle East. In reality, they raise poignant and unthinkable questions whether this president has violated his oath of office and several US laws by facilitating an Islamic takeover of America.

One need look no further than the Administration's embracing of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) and high level appointments of Muslims who are directly associated to the MB or have ties to organizations associated with the MB. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's top aid since 1996 is Huma Abedin. Former Palestinian terrorist now converted Christian Walid Shoebat says that Abedin was never properly screened.

Shoebat reports that Abedin "is closely associated with her Muslim Brotherhood family and even joined Clinton at an event with her mother, Saleha Abedin, at Dar El-Hekma College in Saudi Arabia. Also present was a close associate of Saleha Abedin-Suheir Qureshi. Qureshi's name later appeared in several prominent Arab newspapers when it was revealed that she belonged to a list of 63 members of the secret arm of the Muslim Brotherhood called The Sisterhood. The full list was later revealed-Huma Abedin's mother is on it. Huma's brother-Hassan Abedin-also collaborates with Omar Naseef and Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, two of the most influential terror supporters in the world."

Clinton recently overruled the Immigration and Nationality Act by allowing Tariq Ramadan entry into the United States. Ramadan, described as an independent power center within the MB, is the grandson of the founder of the MB. He has been banned to travel in the US since 2004 for his contributions to Hamas and links to radical Islamists.

Clinton also announced on the eve of the July 4th holiday that the United States welcomes dialogue with the MB, prompting this response from Frank Gaffney, Jr. at the Center for Security Policy: "The Obama administration chose the eve of the holiday marking our Nation's birth to acknowledge publicly behavior in which it has long been stealthily engaged to the United States' extreme detriment: Its officials now admit that they are embracing the Muslim Brotherhood (MB or Ikhwan in Arabic). That would be the same international Islamist organization that has the destruction of the United States, Israel and all other parts of the Free World as its explicit objective."

The MB was founded in 1928 to establish global Sharia Law through jihad. The Administration states that the MB denounces violence and promotes democracy. In reality, the MB is the umbrella organization that supports various terrorist groups including Hamas, Hezbollah, and al Qaeda. For example, Egyptian Ayman al-Zawahiri, al Qaeda's new commander, joined the MB when he was 14. The MB also has an extensive network in the United States through various vassal organizations including: Muslim American Society, Islamic Society of North America, Muslim Students Association, Muslim Businessmen Association, Muslim Youth of North America, Mercy International Association, Islamic Circle of North America, Muslim Arab Youth Association, The Association of Muslim Social Scientists. The Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) is closely associated with many of these organizations.

The MB, with a public facade of non-violence, promotes democracy as a landing point to gain political control and establish Sharia Law, as its supported terrorist groups did so aptly in Gaza with Hamas and in Lebanon with Hezbollah. Currently, its targets are Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, Yemen, Jordan, Syria, and the United States of America.

The MB was exposed in the Holy Land Foundation trial in 2007. Documents provided as evidence in the trial indicated a plan to take over the United States. The plan, written in 1991 calls for Islamists to colonize America with Islamic Centers, schools, elected officials and court cases. It seeks to establish a "Civilization-Jihadist Process." It outlines how "work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and "sabotaging" its miserable house..." The plan is using so-called "moderate" Muslim groups to establish a beachhead in the US and then radical elements to take over.

MB-supported elected officials are found across America in local offices. At the national level the first Muslim elected to Congress, Minnesota Democrat Keith Ellison is an MB-supported candidate. The Muslim American Society (aka MB) paid for Ellison's Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca. The MB ties also extended deep into then-Senator Barack Obama's presidential campaign. In October 2008, FOX News reported that the Obama campaign was rift with associates of the MB. FOX reported that Minha Husaini replaced Mazen Asbahi as Obama's Muslim liaison after Asbahi resigned over revelations that groups linked to the MB featured him as a speaker. FOX reported that Husaini also met with groups tied to the MB and Hamas in Virginia on September 15, 2008.

Since the campaign, the Administration has redoubled its efforts to appoint Muslims to high government positions. The Congressional Muslim Staffers Association, now disbanded because of its ties to radical Islamists, vetted potential appointments "under the radar," according to J. Saleh Williams, who headed the effort.

The result is a tremendous number of Islamists sitting at key strategic positions in the federal government and on the judiciary. Included are: David Heyman, nominated as Assistant Secretary for Policy at the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and at the same agency, Secretary Janet Napolitano has appointed Arif Alikhan as Assistant Secretary for Policy Development. According to Newsmax, "both men are devout, Shariah Law Muslims, and in her announcement Napolitano made that very clear...Alikan is associated with the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) "a public service agency working for the civil rights of American Muslims." BOTH men will have top security clearances. Several Muslims at the DHS who have top security clearances are associated with groups that claim Hamas and Hezbollah are "humanitarian" organizations.""

And such appointments continue. The president has appointed Hezbollah favorite Abed Hammoud as Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan. Hammoud. In the past, he has said that Israelis are like Nazis. He has led marches against Israel. The pro-Hezbollah Arab-American News in Dearborn, Mi reported that Hammoud led marchers against Israel who were chanting "Down, down Israel!" and "Death to Israel!" The newspaper quoted Hammoud saying, "Other than our own leaders, Israel pulls us together like no one else can." Hammoud added to cheers, "We don't believe Hizbullah is a terrorist organization. We obey the law, we don't give them financial support or provide them with aid, but we think this law needs to be changed."

Israel National News reported on June 20 that the president appointed Azizah al-Hibri to the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom. al-Hibri believes that Sharia Law is superior to Western Law, no surprise since she sat on the National Advisory Board of the American Muslim Council. INN reported that in 2001, "Al-Hibri traveled to the Afghan border and criticized the Western press for "sensationalizing" Taliban atrocities and using them "as an opportunity to attack Islam". After the attacks of September 11, she cautioned against bombing Al-Qaeda and Taliban targets during Ramadan."

Former CIA agent and current professor for the Centre for Counterintelligence and Security Studies Clare Lopez concludes that the Administration has quietly installed Islamists in key security and foreign policy positions who are now directing the Middle East foreign policy of the United States.

The evidence appears overwhelming that the radical Islamist influence assembled by this White House is in lock step with the Muslim Brotherhood plan to takeover America. Perhaps the unthinkable has become reality. As the prophet Jeremiah spoke of ancient Babylon that had many of the same traits of today's post-moral America "Surely I will fill thee with men, as with locusts; and they shall raise a battle cry against thee (51:14)." The evidence is in plain sight, but how long will it take for America to awaken from her politically correct slumber?

A word of caution about contemporary Christian movements

When someone says "I am helping establish the kingdom of God here on earth" or "I am preparing the way for Christ's return" or "We are ruling over the kingdom of God here on earth", what do you hear? What do your ears and heart discern? What I hear, and I am not intending to offend any who may be reading this, but rather to make you think, is first and foremost, self elevated pride. Secondly, I hear misguided or wrong minded doctrine. These phrases are an indicator of various forms of Dominion Theology. Dominion Theology is the belief that Christians are living in the established kingdom of God, must reclaim it for Christ, and rule over it spiritually, socially and economically.

This belief has spawned several movements in the Christian Church, both on the liberal side and amongst conservatives where many well-intended people who love the Lord are working tirelessly to establish this kingdom and claim rule over it. We have those who promote social justice, those who promote Chrislam, those who call themselves the "Emergent" church, those who are part of the Apostolic Reformation movement, those who claim to be prophetic and those who claim to be charismatic. There are many varying degrees of leaven in this theological concept in contemporary Christianity, but they all are taking it upon themselves to claim, reclaim, establish, rule over the kingdom of God here on earth.

Jesus specifically discussed the kingdom and his return. There are several examples in the Bible. One that very clearly stands out is Acts 1:6-9: "When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight."

Jesus Christ's last instructions told us that he would return to establish the kingdom of God and until then we were to be witnesses unto the uttermost part of the earth. As I see it in the scriptures, the kingdom is yet to come; Jesus will establish it; and we are to be witnesses, make disciples, preach the gospel, and occupy until He returns. There is only one other that will try under his own power to establish a kingdom here on earth, and that is the antichrist. If we as Christians were doing what Christ told us the world would certainly be a far greater place with fewer problems. The scriptures are clear, however, about the coming kingdom, who will establish it, and our job in relationship to it.

Reminder: The deep Christian roots of America

Recently, there has been much debate within the patriotic Christian community about whether the Founding Fathers were Christian or if their legacy has been a carefully crafted lie. Some now say that America was not formed up by Christians and did not reflect the a nation founded in the name of Christ. Filmmaker Chris Pinto has appeared on radio and television shows lambasting David Barton of Wallbuilders for misleading Christian Americans about the foundation of Christ as the cornerstone of this nation. While I am not a historian, it is of interest to me. It is a fact that this United States of America, had predominantly Christian roots at its founding and its laws are based on the laws of the Bible.

The land was claimed in covenant with God to advance the Christian faith over 150 years BEFORE the Declaration of Independence. The 1606 Jamestown Charter from King James stated "...in propagating of Christian Religion to such People, as yet live in Darkness and miserable Ignorance of the true Knowledge and Worship of God, and may in time bring the Infidels and Savages, living in those Parts, to human Civility, and to a settled and quiet Government..." The Mayflower Compact 16 years later proclaimed: "Having undertaken, for the glory of God, and advancement of the Christian faith, and honor of our King and Country, a voyage to plant the first colony in the northern parts of Virginia..."

The Founding Fathers of the United States of America may not all have been Christians. They knew, however, that the Holy Scriptures contained in the Bible were the basis for all law. They unabashedly based the formation of the nation upon the laws of the God of the Bible. One can find Biblical principles throughout the Declaration and the Constitution. On January 10, 1963, Florida Congressman A.S. Herlong, Jr. read into the Congressional Record the 45 stated goals of communism from "The Naked Communist" by Cleon Skousen. Numbers 27-30 stated: "27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with "social" religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity, which does not need a "religious crutch."

28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of "separation of church and state." 29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis. 30. Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the "common man."" Jesus said in Matthew 24:4, "Take heed that no man deceive you." Those trying to say that because the Founders were not necessarily Christian our nation is inherently evil are liars and deceivers. Rest assured that God was in control of forming this nation for His good purpose. And take delight in it that our Christian heritage is true and vital.
