The Heart of the Matter

The Heart of the Matter

There were over 70 people who came from mile's and miles away. they were dressed in their very best. Most of them walked for miles in a gentle rain along a muddy road to get there. While it was raining outside the unfinished concrete building it was dry inside. The enthusiasm was certainly not dampened. They had been having Sunday school before church--men and boys on one side of the room and women and girls on the other side--when I arrived. Good lesson about how to identify your gifts and put them to use--a reminder on doing what God wants, not what you want or what others think God wants for you.

Praise and worship was lively and joyful. The atmosphere was so peaceful and filled with lovingkindness. And so started my first day on the ground in

Ghana. We were at Redeemer House, where my brother in the Lord, William Agbeti, lives with his wife and family, trains up ministers to plant churches, conducts a feeding program for the poor, especially the children, and holds church. This week the three churches that have been planted from our mission outreach and William's obedience to the Lord met together. They came from rural areas where the Islamic colonization is a real and present danger to all who live there.

Within a five minute walk, for example, from Redeemer House is a mosque. Each morning at 4:00, the call to prayer is broadcast at full blast over the speakers strapped to the rooftop of the mosque. Yes, there are laws against the loud noises. But the police fear the Muslims and will not do anything about them. While the American president may believe its the most beautiful sound on earth, those within earshot of Redeemer House find it a harrowing annoyance each morning. Others can hear it too. They are the poor in the surrounding villages where the Muslims are trying to take over.

Among them are the children that William and his congregants feed. They believe that if they can share the gospel and feed the children, they will win them to Christ, even win over the parents. If they could provide clothing, even better. And even better than that, if they could provide them a Christian education, the impact of being light and salt to children that will never have much of a chance is real Kingdom impact. Jesus said in Matthew 25:40, "Inasmuch you have done it unto one of the least of these, my brethren, ye have done it unto me." If we don't, that Muslim call to prayer is a reminder of who will.

Of evil intent and repentance

Iranian madman president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has gone off on one of his tirades again. He says that Israel should be eradicated because it is a symbol of "suppression and discrimination." The ISNA news agency reported that Ahmadinejad told a Lebanese television network, "Iran believes that whoever is for humanity should also be for eradicating the Zionist regime as symbol of suppression and discrimination. Iran follows this issue (eradication of Israel) with determination and decisiveness and will never ever withdraw from this standpoint and policy." He made his remarks as part of the annual Qods Day preparation, where Iranians are to hold anti-Israel demonstrations the last day of Ramadan.

In these days of political civility, it is amazing that a leader of a nation would be able to get away with that kind of speech. He is representing the Islamic Republic of Iran. Iran is run by Islamic Sharia law. When Ahmadinejad speaks, he is speaking for Islam, you know, the peaceful religion. Strange it is, that under the current man who occupies the Oval Office that America is assisting the Muslim Brotherhood--a worldwide organization that wants to establish Islamic law globally--in taking over Libya (where nearly a billion dollars of US taxpayers' (your) money was used), Egypt, Syria, Yeman, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, a Palestinian state, and who knows where else.

Yes, many of these nations are rivals, but they agree on one thing--the destruction of Israel. And Americans are sending money to these evildoers. Our president is helping them take over countries in the name of democracy and self determination, when in reality that is just a ploy to establish Sharia Law. The latest example is Libya where its new "Constitution" states at the very beginning that the nation will be governed by Sharia law. That means that the Koranic passages about killing Christians and Jews are taken very seriously. Your tax dollars are going to these nations whose leadership wants nothing but to destroy Israel and America.

The Bible says in Isaiah 5:20, "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter." Then verse 23 concludes, "Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!" Now here is a hard word: It is wrong for America to support any of these governments who wish to destroy Israel. We are spending billions on them, many of whom are terrorists. Your money and mine is going into the pockets of those who are killing innocent people. Who will be held accountable, especially since God blessed us with having a choice in our leaders? This is only one example of our need for repentance.

Your light of Christ in times of crisis

Those of you who live on the West Coast certainly understand and are accustomed to earthquakes. Those who live on the East Coast haven't had the same opportunity you have in getting their minds around the earth moving under their feet. But the 5.8 quake that shook the Greater Washington DC area on Tuesday revealed a lot about the character of our nation. Folks have reported in on some of what they experienced. And I think this event gave us a snapshot as to what to expect as the birth pangs of the end times come closer together. It also reveals to us what the Lord expects from His people when adversity strikes.

My wife Chris was at Wal-mart getting some things I need for my upcoming mission to Ghana, West Africa when the quake rumbled. The shelving swayed and things came tumbling off. People were scurrying about trying to get out of the store. Chris remained so very calm that the people around her even asked after it was over how she managed to keep calm. Lisa, one of our dear friends who lives near the Pentagon, was working at her retail clothing store. She was in the back moving heavy, tall racks of clothing around when they seemed close in on her as if to crush her. Her co-worker started to panic. Lisa calmly took her hand, and led her out to the storefront. Several of her coworkers were so distraught that they had to take the rest of the day off.

I have heard several other stories where my Christian friends remained calm in the midst of a pretty scary situation where the people around them were distraught, frightened, and disoriented. I know that Chris and Lisa are devout followers of Christ, led by the Holy Spirit. The others that I talked to after the quake are also strong Christians. In each case, they were calm, collected and able to serve others by their demeanor or their decisive actions that gave a sense of security and safety. 2 Timothy 1:7 comes to mind, "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." This is how Chris, Lisa and others responded, seemingly naturally.

There are going to be times ahead where only the Holy Spirit in you will be able to help you make sense of the situation. Because of this, you will have the opportunity to lead and show the light of Christ. You will have the right answer, the right action, the right discernment if you are walking in the Holy Spirit. You will be placed in these situations for the express purpose of showing Christ to others. Jesus said in Matthew 10:19, 20, "But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaks in you." I believe this same concept applies as to Christian leadership in difficult times.

When the prophetic and the physical collide

The greater Washington, DC area was struck with a 5.8 magnitude earthquake Tuesday afternoon, which threw the city into a semi-panic. Pieces of plaster fell from the Capital dome, bricks came down on cars, people were frightened. In less than another 72 hours, the area is threatened by a hurricane now forming in the Atlantic. Reports indicate that the US national debt is rising by $3 million every minute. The president has authorized and spent a record $4.247 trillion in national debt in only 2 1/2 years. New home sales, a key economic indicator, are on pace to be the worst in history. Meanwhile, the president is playing golf on vacation.

This is during the same time period, within hours, after the al Qaeda- and Muslim Brotherhood-backed "rebels" raised their flag over Libya. The US supported this power grab by Islamists whose goal in life is to destroy America and Israel. Indeed, the Secretary of State has been putting pressure on Israel for numerous things--apologizing to Turkey for raiding a terrorist flotilla, new settlements, and the threatening to support a UN recognition of a Palestinian state. A good friend of mine, White House correspondent Bill Koenig, has written a book entitled "Eye to Eye: Facing the Consequences of Dividing Israel." In it he documents decades of natural disaster, political unrest and financial disaster within hours after American presidents pressure Israel to divide its land.

There is nothing more strategically attacking Israel in this present day than American support for Muslim Brotherhood-backed revolution throughout the Middle East. This president has supported the establishment of Islamic states hostile to Israel more so than at any time in American history. These actions mean nations that will be even more hostile to Israel. By pressuring Israel to give up land for peace, which is nothing new except that this pressure has come with more force--threatening to support anti-Israel UN resolutions, not using US power to thwart the Iran nuclear program, etc., for example. A Palestinian state dividing Israel in two pieces would only be an advantage to Islam's plans to destroy Israel.

There are many in Christianity that do not believe in the prophetic correlation between pressuring Israel and calamity. This, however, has been documented very carefully and thoroughly to the point that if it is coincidence, it defies odds. Last year, Washington DC faced an epidemic of stink bugs and financial disaster. This year, the financial disaster continues to deepen, there is an historic earthquake, followed by a hurricane. All the while, this White House continues to pressure Israel by establishing radical Islamic states in the name of democracy and threatening to divide its land. In Zechariah 12:9 the Lord says, "And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem."

The contemporary American crucible: Satan, Sin, Sharia

The contemporary American crucible: Satan, Sin, Sharia

The man who occupies the Oval Office has spent nearly a billion dollars of your money to establish a radical Islamic state governed by Sharia law in Libya--that's $896 million through July 31 with the promise of another $25 million in aid to the al Qaeda and Muslim Brotherhood supported Libyan Transitional National Council which will establish Libya as an Islamic state once dictator Moammar Qadhafi is finally ousted. The promise was that no US ground troops would be used to overthrow Qadhafi, but US air and naval support was key in the overthrow. All this money and lives were spent in the name of spreading self determination and democracy, but in the end Sharia law prevails. You have been lied to.

According to the US Department of Defense, US planes have flown 391 sorties over the past 12 days, bringing the total to 5,316 since April 1. ABC News reports that this includes 1,210 bombing missions and an additional 101 Predator drone strike missions. The United States has significantly participated in overthrowing a government in support of replacing it with al Qaeda and Muslim Brotherhood operatives. These are sworn enemies of the United States and have vowed to not only establish Sharia law worldwide, but also to eliminate Israel. The Muslim Brotherhood is the same organization that this White House supported in the overthrow of the Egyptian government.

Democracy has nothing to do with it except as a means to establish Sharia law. The scheme is to make people think they have freedom then appeal to their religious passion to establish Sharia law, which is no form of freedom, but rather a radical socialist, even fascist, form of government. The Heritage Foundation posted the draft Constitution for the new Libyan state--its flag with the star and crescent. It states that Libyans shall be equal before the law. Human rights will be respected with equal opportunity and fair distribution of national wealth. But all this is subject to Article 1, Part 1: "Islam is the Religion of the State and the principal source of legislation is Islamic Jurisprudence (Sharia)."

Why is the president of the United States assisting sworn enemies in establishing a radical Sharia law state? In no way is Sharia law compatible with democracy; it is the antithesis of Western democracy. This Administration is culpable in Libya, Egypt, the Palestinian Territories, and who knows where else in assisting radical Islam. Islamists hold high positions of authority in America's government. Why is there no outrage and exposure from the guardians of the public interests--the free press? Why is there no outrage by our citizenry that our country is nation building in times of economic duress? Psalm 33:12 says, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD." My God, what have we done?

The Qadhafi Conundrum

The so-called Libyan rebels have stormed Tripoli and are now within reach of toppling the 40 year radical dictatorship of Moammar Qadhafi. Qadhafi is no friend to America. He has been on the forefront of terrorism and was largely responsible for the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie that killed 270 people in 1988. Prior to that, President Ronald Reagan ordered Libya bombed in retaliation for a series of terrorist attacks. Qadhafi's support of terrorism was quiet until the Lockerbie bombing. And later, Qadhafi denounced the al Qaeda 911 attacks. But al Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood-sponsored terrorist groups have been seeking to overthrow Qadhafi since.

Notwithstanding, the US president is supporting al Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood in the fight over who gets control of Libya. He said, "Tonight, the momentum against the Qadhafi regime has reached a tipping point. Tripoli is slipping from the grasp of a tyrant." The United States, at the order of the president, actually has worked very diligently to dress up the al Qaeda and Muslim Brotherhood-related terrorists to be acceptable to the West. Radical Islamic haters of Israel and America magically have become model citizens made up of doctors, educators and lawyers and paraded around to Capitol Hill and the parliaments of greater Europe to curry supporting worldwide terrorists over a terrorist dictator.

The US president appears to have embarked on a deliberate strategy to embrace radical Islam by partnering with Islamic organizations calling for the demise of the United States, and by assigning Islamists to key strategic positions that oversee the security of the nation, aspects of the judiciary, and are intimate aides to high level administration appointees. The Administration's public position is that these relationships are in the best interest of the United States in promoting tolerance in America and democracy in the Middle East. In reality, they raise poignant and unthinkable questions whether this president has violated his oath of office and several US laws by facilitating an Islamic takeover of America.

Their is no lack of evidence documenting the influence of the Muslim Brotherhood at high places in the US government. Even Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's top aide Huma Abedin is directly tied to the Muslim Brotherhood. The Muslim Brotherhood's public strategic plan seeks to overthrow America with a "civilization jihad" by infiltrating the local, state and federal governments. The US support of the Muslim Brotherhood's Arab Spring revolution throughout the Arab world is conducted in the name of democracy, where in reality it is the establishing of even more hostile Islamic control of Arab nations. Jesus said in Matthew 24:4, "Take heed that no man deceive you." Deception is the way of this government.

Let them eat cake

Martha's Vineyard is the vacation hotspot for the privileged and wealthy. Movie stars, politicians, millionaire TV personalities and liberal journalists roost there during the summer. The normal population of about 16,000 can swell to over 75,000 people in the summer. The Vineyard Gazette Online reports that the cost of living on the island is 60% higher than the national average, and housing prices are 96% higher than the national average. These are the very people that political leftists decry do not pay their fair share of taxes when they play the class warfare card and want the less fortunate to believe they care. So why is it that the president, who loathes the rich so much, is taking an 11 day vacation there?

The "first family" is hanging out at the Blue Heron Farm, renting for between $35,000 and $50,000 a week. The president's vacation will be far more expensive when accounting for the entourage of secret service, chefs, servants, and others. But the family will have a great time. ABC News reports the property features a five-bedroom main house, a Cape Cod guest house, swimming pool and a half-court basketball court. The family will have their pick of activities ranging from kayaking on the West Tisbury Great Pond to a simple game of horseshoes. And golf is not far away for the president who as of March had golfed over 60 times since taking office--that's two months of his presidency spent on the golf course.

The national unemployment rate is 9.1% and that does not take into account all those who have essentially given up on finding a job. Counting those folks brings the rate up to about 20%. Reports released this week indicate that 20% of America's children now live in poverty. Homelessness is on the rise, reaching record numbers in places like Portland, Oregon. First time homelessness is on the rise across the nation as "economic refugees", as they call them, are moving across the country seeking work. By all market indications, the US is headed into another, deeper recession. Food prices are rapidly increasing. Home foreclosures are so prevalent, the government is considering renting them, but to who?

Jesus said in Matthew 7:15, 16, "Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits." While the president is not a prophet in the traditional sense, we can know him by what he does rather than by what he says. He says the rich don't pay their fair share. I wonder while he is up there in Martha's Vineyard rubbing elbows with the rich and famous, if he will be asking them to pay their fair share. I also wonder why he is taking a vacation at a time when most Americans are having a hard time keeping a roof over their head and food on the table. Its like fiddling while Rome burns, or royalty saying "let them eat cake" in the midst of a famine.

More deception and death compliments of the US Government

When a government is out of control the most horrible things are sanctioned as the right thing to do. For example, spending trillions of tax payers' hard earned dollars to buy prosperity in the economy. It is just against the principles of economics and it, to date, has been a resounding failure. A lot of smart men and women, educated in America's most esteemed institutions, advocated a policy that will take generations to fix. At the top, in the Oval Office, is where the buck stops, as former President Harry Truman used to say. Blame shifting is not going to work. The guy at the top has to take responsibility. But what happens when that responsibility results in loss of innocent life. Is their accountability?

Operation Fast and Furious is one such example. Here, someone in the highest offices of our government thought it would be a great idea to sell guns to drug dealers in Mexico and track them in their use. Essentially, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, upon the approval of either the president or someone close to him, sold guns to the cartels that have turned our border with Mexico into a war zone. While the authorities do not know the exact number of guns that were sold (strange, because how do you track them if you do not know how many you sold?), it is estimated that 1,500 guns, most of which never made it to Mexico, were placed in the hands of criminals in America.

The Los Angeles Times is reporting that 57 weapons have shown up at six crime scenes in American border towns. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was killed by a criminal using one of the weapons. In all, weapons have been recovered at some 11 crime scenes and the number could grow, as could the death toll. What this boils down to is an American government project that armed drug cartel thugs and jeopardized the safety of American citizens, even resulting in the death of one. The mainstream news media is hardly reporting it. And the White House is mum, citing that it cannot comment on an ongoing investigation.

There are many, many examples of how this Administration has done harm to the citizens of this nation. On one hand, it embarked on a policy to arm drug cartels waging war on our border, and on the other it is characterizing conservative white Americans as terrorists and extremists. The Department of Homeland Security released yet another video, this time a 30 second PSA, depicting whites as terrorists in their "If you see something, say something" campaign. This is government run amuck. 2 Timothy 3:13 says, "But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived." Don't put your trust in government. Only Jesus has your back.

The Daily Jot

Of the Federal Reserve and the Greater Economy

The Federal Reserve and its monetary policy is coming under the magnifying glass in the US presidential campaign. Texas Republican Governor Rick Perry, who has taken the lead in polls for the Republican nomination, lashed out at the Fed. Of Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke, Perry said, "If this guy prints more money between now and the election, I don't know what y'all will do to him in Iowa, but we would treat him pretty ugly down in Texas...Printing more money to play politics at this particular time in American history is almost treacherous, treasonous in my opinion." In this era of Democratic defined political civility, Perry's comments drew instant fire from the president's camp, saying he needed to watch his mouth.

On behalf of the president, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney responded: "When you're President or you're running for President you have to think about what you're saying, because your words have greater impact. And President Obama and we take the independence of the Federal Reserve quite seriously, and certainly think threatening the Fed Chairman is probably not a good idea." Later, he was asked what kind of threat was Perry making. Carney said, "I just think that you've got to be careful of what you say. The Fed's independence is important, and that's really the only thing I was trying to convey." So it wasn't really a threat at all, only that the Fed must maintain its independence.

Both Perry and another Texas candidate for president, Ron Paul, are on to something about the Federal Reserve. Article 1 Section 8 of the US Constitution lists the enumerated powers of Congress. Among them are "To coin money, regulate the value thereof, and of foreign coin, and fix the standard of weights and measures." Under globalist Democratic president Woodrow Wilson, the Democratic-controlled Congress created the Fed as a central bank, conveying its power of regulating the money to the Fed. The Fed loans money to the government using interest bearing bank notes supported by debt. Simply put, the Fed is laundering our own money back to the government and the citizens get stuck with the debt.

The Fed is the linchpin of the one world order. It folds America into the world banking system and places citizens' money, property and economy in the hands of global strategists controlled by financiers. Perry made no threat. He only brought attention to a huge factor in our nation's monetary policy that has enabled bad government. In reality, however, Christians should rest assured of a greater economy as described in Isaiah 9:7, "Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever." As for civility, Perry only said printing more money was "almost treacherous, treasonous." He didn't call voters who disagree with him "terrorists."

Devising deceit against those living quietly in the land

The campaign for President of the United States in now officially in full swing. The Daily Jot will not endorse a candidate, but will provide commentary from time to time on issues related to morality, that have Biblical importance or prophetic relevance. This installment of The Daily Jot centers on the current occupier of the Oval Office and his first major campaign swing into the Midwest, America's heartland. The crowds have not been shown by the news media, because they have been sparse, I'm told. And some of the people have been quite angry about the direction this nation has taken since the president took office. The president was confronted about his vice president calling TEA Party members "terrorists."

According to ABC News, the president was holding a town meeting when Ryan Rhodes, a TEA Party group leader in Iowa, stood up and asked the president how he can call for more civility when "your vice president is calling people like me, a Tea Party member, a 'terrorist.'" The president answered another question then addressed Rhodes, saying, "First of all, in fairness to this gentleman who raised a question, I absolutely agree that everybody needs to try to tone down the rhetoric. Now, in fairness, since I've been called a socialist who wasn't born in this country, who is destroying America and taking away its freedoms because I passed a health care bill, I'm all for lowering the rhetoric."

After the town meeting, an ABC News video shows the president with his back to the camera facing a very thin crowd of people about three deep with people milling about in the background. He is shaking hands when he is confronted by a young man who asked him why the vice president called TEA Party members "terrorists." The president denied that his vice president referred to them as "terrorists." A young woman took him to task for his administration's continuing characterization of God-fearing, fiscal and social conservatives as "right wing extremists" and "terrorists." The president tried to remain calm, but then another man also started asking him about it. They all were respectful, but firm.

Another man also made a case for a balanced budget. To which the president replied, "It doesn't sound like your interested in listening." The man said, "You don't listen either." In a way, it does sound like the president has listened. He recognizes that many Americans believe him to be, in his own words, "a socialist who wasn't born in this country, who is destroying America and taking away its freedoms..." Trouble is, while the president may not like this characterization, he has done nothing to dispel it. All the while, he and his administration are demonizing those who disagree with him. Proverbs 35:20 says, "For they speak not peace, but they devise deceitful matters against them that are quiet in the land."

Of character, leadership and hatred

This will not be your typical Daily Jot, but there is a message in it. I am so glad football season is begun. I believe football has all the elements of life. I have used the sport of football to teach Christian character and leadership among men. I believe that football builds character, hones leadership and foments the right kind of bonds between men. I have witnessed over my years of coaching football young men turn around their entire lives because of all the elements of the game--the struggles, the highs, the lows, the unyielding physics of spiritual, mental and physical mixing in the crucible of controlled violence to form a more perfect man. Nowadays faith in God, however, may be a liability to a player's career.

I have been following the career of Tim Tebow for several years. Tim was home schooled, is the son of Christian missionaries, he is a faith-filled man who gives glory to Jesus Christ at every opportunity. Tim won college football's most prestigious award--the Heisman Trophy--and two national college championships before he was drafted by the Denver Broncos. He is highly regarded for his character and his leadership. He is noted for putting a Bible verse in his eye-black for each game. He is also noted for his amazing on-field leadership, winning games, and toughness. Yet, every week the haters are out. They tweet, they blog, they comment on television and radio--he can't play, they say.

But there is something deeper than an opinion on Tim's playing ability. It shows that no matter how much good there is in a person, there are those who hate. Before his first pre-season game with the Broncos last week, the announcers were criticizing Tim's warm ups. The tweets started coming in. FOX Sports monitored them. They said, "Tebow in game. Let's see if he can cure leprosy," "God has decided to wait until regular season to start assisting Tebow," "God flipping over from GOP debate to watch Tebow"--just to document a few. And these are typical of not only the comments from fans, but also of the snide remarks from professional journalists and commentators, things like "Maybe God wants him to be a back up."

Tebow responds like a pro, never showing hurt or anger. He told FOX Sports, "My faith has been a big part of my life and it's something that I feel like I show, but I don't feel like I am ever too outward about it as far as putting other people down or preaching." Tim's career could be shortened because of public opinion on his faith. And here again, football is a microcosm of life. In many cases, we as a people have lost the natural affection we should have for one another. Where men of character were once revered, they are now ridiculed. Yet these detractors would be the first to preach tolerance for what the Bible calls evil. Jesus said in John 13:34, "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another." I'm just saying...

Ramadan and revisionist (politically correct) history

The president issued a statement commemorating Ramadan for American Muslims. He also said he would host an Iftar dinner at the White House. The State Department on July 29 released a history lesson entitled "Thomas Jefferson's Iftar," following up on the president's statements that Thomas Jefferson held the first Iftar at the White House. Not exactly the truth. During Jefferson's presidency, there was a huge problem with Islamic pirates pillaging American ships and enslaving American men and women. An Islamic ambassador was invited to the White House to discuss it over dinner. It happened during Ramadan in 1805. Jefferson moved the dinner time to sunset in deference to the ambassador's religion.

Here is the true history: The Barbary pirates were Islamic terrorists from Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and Libya. They were attacking American ships and holding Christian Americans as slaves. In 1786, future presidents Thomas Jefferson and John Adams, ambassadors to France and Britain, respectively, met with the Libyan ambassador to Britain Sidi Adja to discuss peace. Adja told them, "that it was written in their Koran, that all nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as prisoners, and that every Muslim who should be slain in battle was sure to go to Paradise."

Adam's son, President John Quincy Adams wrote of Mohammed in the 1827 American Annual Register: "...combining the powers of transcendent genius with the preternatural energy of a fanatic and the fraudulent spirit of an impostor, proclaimed himself as a messenger from heaven, and spread desolation and delusion over an extensive portion of the earth...He poisoned the sources of human felicity at the fountain, by degrading the condition of the female sex, and the allowance of polygamy; and he declared undistinguishing and exterminating war as part of his religion against all the rest of mankind. The essence of his doctrine was violence and lust; to exalt the brutal over the spiritual part of human nature."

Adams spoke of the 1,200 year war between Christianity and Islam: "That war is yet flagrant; nor can it cease but by the extincture of that impostor, which has been permitted by Providence to prolong the degeneracy of man. While the merciless and dissolute are encouraged to furnish motives to human action, there never can be peace on earth and good will toward men." Then Adams waxed prophetic by quoting from Genesis 16:11, 12, "Behold, thou art with child, and shall bear a son, and shall call his name Ishmael;...and he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him." Not quite the politically correct history revisionism the White House portrays as the religion of peace.

This generation's revolution--of the prophetic and pathetic

There is a rebellion of youth across the world, and those youth of revival as so often prophesied by the the church are a distinct minority. Yes, there are young people who are doing well, following the Lord and will be the leaders of the this next generation, both spiritually and industrially. But the recent riots in London, and the violent flash mobs in Los Angeles, Chicago, Cleveland, Washington, DC, and Milwaukee, point to a more disturbing trend that is sure to challenge the leaders of this next generation. Try as Christians might to pour into their own children good spiritual waters, the world is being flooded with water from poisonous wells of bad government, bad education and bad parenting.

"If you live a normal life of absolute futility, which we can assume most of this week's rioters do, excitement of any kind is welcome. The people who wrecked swathes of property, burned vehicles and terrorized communities have no moral compass to make them susceptible to guilt or shame," says Max Hastings of the UK Daily Mail. "Most have no jobs to go to or exams they might pass. They know no family role models, for most live in homes in which the father is unemployed, or from which he has decamped...They respond only to instinctive animal impulses - to eat and drink, have sex, seize or destroy the accessible property of others...They are essentially wild beasts."

Hastings asks, "So who is to blame? The breakdown of families, the pernicious promotion of single motherhood as a desirable state, the decline of domestic life so that even shared meals are a rarity, have all contributed importantly to the condition of the young underclass. The social engineering industry unites to claim that the conventional template of family life is no longer valid." Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter preached a sermon Sunday, August 7, admonishing parents, saying "Parents who neglect their children, who don't know where they are, who don't know what they're doing, who don't know who they're hanging out with, you're going to find yourself spending some quality time with your kids in jail."

He told fathers: "If you're not providing the guidance, and you're not sending any money, you're just a sperm donor." He told the rogue youth to pull down their hoodies, pull up their pants, and buy a belt because nobody wanted to hire someone who looked crazy. Good advice. We cannot blame the condition of our youth on the condition of our youth. It has to start somewhere. Parenting and family is become as rare as Norman Rockwell prints. The Bible says in Proverbs 22:6, "Train up a child in the way that he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Working two jobs that you might have more material possessions is not a mandate from the Lord, but raising your children, teaching them character, good manners, responsibility, respect, and morals, is.

The Prophetic mission of perilous days

Against the backdrop of global unrest, riots in London, Arab Spring as it encroaches on autumn, and pending economic disaster as governments continue to spend more than they have and demand higher taxes, consider that this is the very best time to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. As a Christian, you have the answers to the problems whatever they may be. The Bible equips Christians to reach out to the world in its situation. The Holy Spirit guides us on what we need to do and when. There are many political issues where Christianity can be applied to fix the problem. There are many social issues where interjecting Christianity will save the day for a soul or a family, perhaps even a people.

Jesus said in John 13:34, 35, "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." In these days there is much confusion and uncertainty, which can turn to anger. As we show our love toward one another, we need to be that light of Christ. Proverbs 15:1 says, "A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger." We as Christians need to be calm, have order in our lives, and be strong in these days in our faith and in demonstrating that faith. 2 Timothy 1:7 says, "For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."

As the Apostle Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 3:1, "This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come." As a prophetic people, you must see the signs of the times and have a clear understanding that we are living in perilous times. Each generation has stepped closer to the return of the Lord. And the times have reflected this. We are no different. 2 Corinthians 2:11 says, "Lest satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices." Satan can come as an angel of light or as the darkness he is. Discernment is key for a prophetic people, especially in perilous days. Our mission as Christians must be focused on the word of God with clear understanding of what is required of us.

Focus is key. Ephesians 4:14,15 says, "That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things which is the head, even Christ." Beware of doctrines of men. All the needed doctrines are contained in the Bible. Stay focused on the love of Christ, remembering that love is not enabling, but instead is empowering. The Apostle Paul was a prophetic man living in a prophetic time. You, too, are a prophetic person living in times prophesied thousands of years ago. Christ made the mission clear. Let us demonstrate and preach the gospel as living stones of this timely priesthood.

The prophetic time for a prophetic people

The stock markets have declined from 6-to-6.9 percent in the first day of trading after America's credit rating was lowered from its AAA rating. This is the first time in history the US has lost its pristine credit rating. All the gains of the market since the beginning of the year are wiped out, even more so, the market is lower than what it started the first of the year. Following the credit down grade for the nation, the government's home lending agencies--Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac--also received a credit down grade. The smoke and mirrors that this Congress and this White House were using to justify borrowing another $2 Trillion with basically no cuts in spending, are coming into clear view, and its not good.

Even while the markets were declining, the president tried to give reassurances that the problem was solvable, but the markets declined even while he was speaking. Partly because he was continuing to blame the problem on the lack of political will in Washington to raise taxes and spend more money to buy America out of the problem. Conventional wisdom, however, is that Congress and the White House decided to spend more money without cutting the federal budget causing a down grade in America's credit and the subsequent market down turn. The president said that Congress and he had reached agreement to make historic cuts to defense and domestic spending, but that's not quite the case.

Truth is, Congress and the White House agreed to spend over $2 trillion before 2013 and make cuts of about $100 billion each year by 2023. The only thing historic about that is its lack of economic and fiscal stewardship. Fiscal conservatives believe the government has grown beyond the ability of the American citizens to pay for it. So they are saying no more tax increases. They are saying no more increases in spending. The fiscal liberals believe that rich people should pay their fair share, so an increase in their taxes should take care of the problem. There are not enough rich people to take care of a $14 trillion debt, even if a tax increase were considered a fair and reasonable thing to do.

The impact on America and the world of these irresponsible actions and lack of leadership (the president continuously accepts no blame for his own policies, but points fingers at everyone else) will be devastating. Interest rates will go higher. Jobs will be fewer. Money will be scarcer. People will be stressed and depressed. People will be looking for answers. And the answer is found in those who know Jesus Christ. 2 Timothy 1:7 says, "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." This is not a time to retract from the events around us, but rather to reach out in the power of the Holy Spirit, with love for one another, even lovingkindness, and wisely demonstrate the solutions to life according to the Word of God.

A Word about discernment--carefully read

The God of the Bible is YHWH (Yaweh) and God incarnate on earth, who was born of a virgin, crucified and risen that those who believe on him would have eternal salvation is YHSWH (Yeshuah, Jesus, the Christ). The Bible is the testament of God, that points to Christ Jesus, even as believers in Jesus have been sent the Holy Spirit to dwell within them and guide them. This comprises what is called the Holy Trinity or the Triune of God. There is only one, and the way we know this is through the Holy Scriptures, the Bible. Neither God, nor Jesus, nor the Holy Spirit will lead believers apart from the Word of God. The Bible is the cornerstone, the building, and the domain that contains God's way to mankind.

Jesus warned in Matthew 7:15, "Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves." He said you will know them by their actions. If their actions are outside the context of God's Word, they are false. The Apostle Paul constantly warned the early church against those who taught false doctrines in the name of Christ Jesus. He wrote in Ephesians 4:14, "That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive." Paul spent an entire chapter in II Corinthians regarding those coming in the name of Christ Jesus who are deceivers.

2 Corinthians 11:3,4 says, "But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preaches another Jesus, who we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him (he that is deceiving)." Paul goes on to say in verse 13, "For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light." Paul was correcting the Corinthians in love. We must also be able to discern, identify and correct in love.

Some are easy to recognize--Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, Oprah's New Age Jesus. Others are more deceptive because they claim to believe in the true Jesus Christ. But if they are teaching things that are not in the Bible, but using specific verses in the Bible that are out of context to justify their positions, your discernment is needed. Those claiming revelation knowledge outside of scriptures, prophecies beyond scripture or are not confirmed by scriptures, declarations and doctrines not found in scriptures, extra-Biblical concepts, being guided by angels, strange supernatural occurrences that are not found in the Scriptures, etc. These may well be a new age religion wearing a mask of Jesus. Beware of them.

A Day of Prayer

As all Christian Americans were called to prayer by Texas Governor Rick Perry, there was no doubt that as a nation we needed to bow down to the Lord, repent, ask forgiveness and seek mercy. There is an old saying that before the brightest dawn there is the darkest hour. In the hours leading up to the prayer gathering where some 30,000 people laid down their differences and came together in prayer, satan was very busy. Our nation's pristine credit rating was downgraded for the first time in history--a sign of things to come. And some 30 of America's best were killed in Afghanistan by Muslim terrorists. No doubt the timing of this prayer event was met with spiritual resistance manifest on earth.

We are a nation where not only its people, but some aspects of the Church have strayed afar from God's Word. Jeremiah 18:15 says, "Because my people hath forgotten me, they have burned incense to vanity, and they have caused them to stumble in their ways from the ancient paths, to walk in paths, in a way not cast up." This is as we have become, like Israel who strayed from the Lord, from our first love. And the Lord said in Ezekiel 22:30, "And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none." On Saturday, there were far more than 30,000--in the stadium, in homes, in churches--standing in the gap.

Despite differences, despite flaws, despite taunting, protests and legal challenges, Christians gathered with heartfelt prayer. Those of us who know the scriptures, know James 5:16, "Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." I know that many across this great land of America confessed our sin, both personally and nationally, to the Lord. Christians read scripture precisely and sought forgiveness and mercy. Christians prayed earnestly. Many fasted and prayed. Many poured out their soul to the Lord.

And many were not seen, as Jesus instructed in Matthew 6:6, "But thou, when thou pray, enter into thy closet, and when thou has shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly." These are dark days for our nation. The enemies are both spiritual and physical--within the nation and without--within even the churches and without. We must not stop with this very public beginning. We must continue on, as Paul wrote in Ephesians 6:20 to "speak boldly, as I ought to speak." We must act by standing righteously on the principles of God's Holy Word in love and relentlessly in pursuit of God's will for our lives and our nation. Let us not lose the momentum.

Prepare, Pray, and Act

The headlines in Thursday's evening news pointed to the stock markets, not only in the United States, but also in Europe. All the modest gains in stocks during this year were wiped out in one day. Investors are nervous that record worldwide debt is going to have calamitous impact. It is finally sinking in that governments cannot long exist under the burden of unprecedented debt. This kind of debt will cause great countries to eventually have economic collapse. Some investment advisors are now privately warning their inner circles to do all they can just to hold on to what they currently have. For the first time since World War II, for example, America's debt at least equaled its Gross National Product.

From a prophetic perspective, this kind of debt combined with the longstanding drain of both financial capital and human lives that it takes to fight Islam worldwide, creates a setting for a one world government to be either established or to have its foundation firmly set. Europe, for example, is struggling to prevent Sharia law from taking hold in London. Spain is fighting outside money coming from Islamic nations to fund radical mosques preaching the Caliphate. Italy is on the verge of joining France in banning the burka. All the while, the American government appears to be embracing Islam in both political appointments and policies. Islam is even exempt from the mandatory healthcare laws.

If there ever were a time when our nation needed all of those who are disciples and believers in Jesus Christ to pray for our nation, it is now. It is very simple. Things are so out of control that only God can fix them. We need to pray and act. Our nation needs the earthly action of repentance. We need to turn our hearts, renew our minds, become obedient to the Lord. Our nation needs the miracle of grace. Our nation needs the miracle of peace. Our nation needs the miracle of God's truth. Our nation needs the miracle of love. There are so many winds of doctrines, so many wars, so many lies, so many who are pitted against one another that this house divided is on the verge of not standing.

We need to pray and we need miracles because our trust in horses and chariots has failed us. But there is more to the equation. The Apostle Paul tells us in Ephesians 6:13, "Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having to done all, to stand." He goes on to tell us in verse 18, "Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints." And he prays that he personally be given utterance that he may open his mouth boldly "to make known the mystery of the gospel." This shows us that we need to get ready for battle, we need to pray, and we need to act.

Sola Scriptura and days of prayer

A lot has been written about Texas Governor Rick Perry's day of prayer scheduled for August 6. Its called "The Response" and it has been chiefly organized by a group of self-proclaimed apostles and prophets subscribing to a movement known as the New Apostolic Reformation. Many are also known by the moniker "Joel's Army." I'm told that American Family Association is funding the project to be held at Houston's Reliant Stadium, which seats over 60,000. The gathering appears to be ecumenical in the sense that those in attendance are united on political issues, but not necessarily theological issues. Those attending will be pro-life, pro-marriage, pro-religious freedom, and fiscal conservatives.

The controversy of the event is complex. Criticism predictably has been launched by liberals that the group is extreme because it stands against abortion, homosexuality, and has harshly criticized New Age religion--i.e., Oprah Winfrey. Conservatives aimed their criticism at the organizers because of their beliefs that they have exclusive revelation knowledge, must establish Christ's kingdom in all areas of society before He can return, do battle against spiritual principalities past and present, and make declarations and proclamations to divorce the nation from pagan Gods such as Baal. Many of these leaders claim to have experienced visitations from guiding angels and to have gotten high or drunk on the Holy Spirit.

Instead of becoming "The Response," the event is more like "The Question." One question is just how far does one agree with someone who, while their hearts are sold out to their interpretation of Jesus, are practicing religion in an extra-Biblical, perhaps heretical, way? Another question is can Christians of all ilks of theology, even theological cults, work together on what they know are Biblically driven issues, but strongly disagree on their practice of religion? Yet another question is where does one draw the line on theological statements of faith, political stances on social issues, and the actual practice of that faith in relation to the stance on those issues? The Bible is clear.

Romans 11:21 says, "Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good." We should be able to work together overcoming evil with good. And we know what evil is according to the scriptures, especially in relationship to the issues of the day. We are repeatedly warned in the Bible, however, about spiritual adultery. In reality, Christians need to be united on the basic tenets of our faith. We must examine how we practice religion ensuring it lines up with scripture that we may be right before God. And we must not be too proud to accept the truth if we are wrong. Jesus said there would be false prophets and false Christs. He said, "Take heed that no man deceive you." The Bible is your only plumb line. Sola Scriptura.

The prophetic possibilities of the Perfect Storm

The perfect storm is when events collide at the perfect time that result in the most devastating calamity. This is a warning that the perfect storm may be forming on the horizon. The politicians in Washington are thumping their chests today that they gave this White House another $2 trillion of your money to spend before the 2012 elections with little to no cuts in spending except for the Defense Department. At the same time, organizations calling for a revolution to overthrow the US government are rising up in plain public view without so much as a footnote from the mainstream news media. The purposeful weakening of the United States, the strengthening of its radical enemies, the formation of a perfect storm.

One such organization held a Khilafa Conference in Chicago on June 26 entitled: Revolution in the Muslim World: From Tyranny to Triumph. The current Administration says Hizb Ut-Tahrir is a non violent Islamic group. But its goal is to overthrow the government and establish an Islamic Caliphate under Sharia Law. It has trained such notables as al Qaeda leaders Abu Musab al-Zarqawi and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. Britain's National Union of Students says the group is "supporting terrorism and publishing material that incites racial hatred." The Heritage Foundation says it is working closely with the Muslim Brotherhood, the White House's new foreign policy partner.

Speakers at the Khilafa Conference used quotes from the Koran and preached revolution. Haitham Thbait said the "West is the enemy of all humanity...Let this revolution give birth to the final super power." Another speaker, Abu Atallah called for Islam to "be made supreme in the land. Islam will be the ruling system in the land...Under the Khilafah, we would be unified under one state. This united state would be ruled by what allah has revealed, not what others say...not even Shiek Obama, but what allah has revealed." Yes, he named the president. He said there would be no borders and that the military would be "in the hands of the Muslims" and "our lands" would be "taken back from the crusaders."

America is facing a most trying time. Massive debt is a permanent tax increase on all of its citizens. The government is stuck in a paradigm of spending the country into socialism. At the same time revolutionary Islamic cults are saying the timing is right for revolution, saying that politically unifying Islam in America will give the Muslim leaders the wealth to establish a worldwide Caliphate. America seems symbolic of Zion in Joel 2:1, "Blow the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the Lord cometh, for it is nigh at hand." We must repent. We must pray. We must stand and overcome evil with good. You have the answer in Christ and the Great Commission, exercise it boldly.

Vice President calls fiscal conservatives "terrorists"

The Daily Jot

Daily reporting and analysis of current events from a biblical and prophetic perspective.
The first sentence in paragraph four does not refer to the TEA Party, it refers to those congressmen who are conservative but did not have the characteristics to hold the line on the debt ceiling vote.

Tuesday, August 2, 2011

Vice President calls fiscal conservatives "terrorists"

Politico reports that the day the US House of Representatives voted for the largest debt increase in the history of the United States, Vice President Joe Biden was lobbying House Democrats for the legislation. He said that some fiscally conservative Republicans he believed to be associated with the TEA Party "acted like terrorists" during the debate. In the closed door Democratic Caucus meeting, Pennsylvania Democratic Congressman Mike Doyle reportedly said, "We have negotiated with terrorists. This small group of terrorists have made it impossible to spend any money." Biden spokeswoman Kendra Barkoff told Politico, "The word was used by several members of Congress."

Later in the day, Biden told CBS News, "I did not use the terrorist word." But apparently Biden's lobbying effort had a specific theme in describing his fiscally conservative opposition. He told leaders in the Senate that the Republicans have "guns to their heads" in the negotiations. And that the deal would take away the TEA Party's "weapon of mass destruction" which is the threat of default. Doyle also told Politico that the TEA Party Republicans "have no compunction about blowing up the economy to get what they want." Other congressmen characterized the Republicans as slash and burn lunatics who have set America's financial house on fire and they were there to put out the fire.

All Americans should be outraged at the analogy that those who are calling for fiscal responsibility would be called terrorists by members of Congress and even the Vice President of the United States. Terrorists kill innocent people. This Administration (and the last) made it policy to removie any reference to terrorists or terrorism from the government lexicon so as to not unduly characterize the "peaceful" religion of Islam. Cowards that kill the innocent are forbidden to be called what they are--terrorists--while patriotic Americans engaging in debate over the size of government and how much debt it should carry are openly referred to as terrorists.

In the end, they may well be unprincipled, lacking statesmanship and courage, but they are not terrorists. And if these Democratic legislators believe that fiscal conservative representatives are terrorists, in what disdain do they hold citizens who share the same belief on stewardship? George Washington advised in his farewell speech that Americans should always share that natural affection that binds us together. Today's Democratic leadership is using classic class warfare by declaring the fiscally responsible as terrorists. Isaiah 5:20 says, "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness." This news should cause every American to reexamine the state of the union.

The prophetic implications of the debt struggle

The Bible demonstrates to us that nations are very important to the Lord. There are countless examples where entire nations are brought to demise or into the blessings of God by either a poor leader or a good one. Proverbs 29:2 says, "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn." There is a tremendous spiritual battle going on over the very soul of this nation. We are seeing it being played out in part in our nation's capital where the weight of issues are aligned in the balance of the fate of our nation and future of our countrymen. Our leadership is being weighed in the balances and as in Daniel 5:27 "art found wanting."

The politicians in Washington believe they have won a battle. The battle on earth, in the halls of congress and at the White House, was waged over raising the debt ceiling so the government could borrow more money. Congress and the White House have agreed in principle that the debt ceiling will be raised by $2.4 trillion in three stages as voted on by Congress. There will be no tax increases. A balanced budget Amendment will be considered. A committee will suggest cuts of $2 trillion over the next decade in government spending. In short, the government gets to borrow $2.4 trillion over the next year against cuts in the budget of $2 trillion over the next 10 years.

If indeed America was blessed by God in its formation and subsequent years of prosperity, and also that the spiritual is sometimes seen by the actions on earth, their is an ongoing spiritual battle over this nation in the heavens. Perhaps it is as in Daniel 10:13 where Gabriel came to speak to Daniel but was delayed spiritually--"But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me." For these politicians, now celebrating victory, have sealed a portion of your fate and mine by their lack of stewardship. In the heavens, satan's band also may be celebrating in that the one world order of the antiChrist has advanced.

The mounting of massive debt by a nation cannot grow unchecked. The government now borrows 40 cents of every dollar it spends. Increasing how much it can borrow without corresponding cuts, only inflates that percentage. Eventually, this debt will become such a burden that neither the nation's institutions nor its citizens will be able to bear it. The economy could collapse and a world order sweep in, even to feign "rescue" of America. That may be a plan of the antiChrist. We as Christians cannot stop the march of prophecy, but we can determine our place in it. Currently, the unrighteous are making that determination for us. We know who wins in the end, but where do we wish to stand in the meantime?
