The Heartbeat of America and the rights of pre-born citizens



The Declaration of Independence expressly states as a foundational precept to government that "all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." It further states the social contract basis for government "That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed." Here we have two concepts at play that are integral to the debate over what can be considered an illegal or in the very least an errant decision by the US Supreme Court in allowing any type of abortion.



First, if all men are created, and they are endowed at the time of that creation with the unalienable Right to Life, then it is impossible to separate the point of creation, which begins life, and the unalienable Right of that Life. The foundational core of the Supreme Law of the United States as found in the Constitution is that Life is an unalienable Right. Any court ruling against such Life is breaking the law it is required to uphold. In America, there have been over 40 million citizens whose lives were snuffed out by the Supreme Court's allowance of legitimized murder--citizens who could in no way protect themselves from the actions of those who conducted or allowed this murder.



Which brings us upon the second point. Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. In an open and free society, there is true democracy. That is, majority rule without regard for law. If a majority consisting of brown eyed people want to kill all those with blue eyes there is nothing to prevent it. Conversely, if green eyed and blue eyed people were in the majority and wanted to kill all the brown eyed people, they could do it. This is why government is instituted with just powers which come in the form of laws. Every citizen gives up a certain amount of liberal freedom to be protected by laws administered justly by the government. Where is the protection for the pre-born?



The Supreme Court in 1973 failed to protect this innocent and defenseless people group leading to the establishment of an entire multi-billion dollar abortion industry. The Ohio House of Representatives Tuesday passed legislation that would restore at least some rights to this unprotected class by making abortion illegal once a heartbeat is detected. When signed into law, it will surely test the decision that erased an entire generation of Americans. Jeremiah 2:34 says, "Also in thy skirts is found the blood of the souls of the poor innocents: I have not found it by secret search, but upon all these." In America this is so true. May the actions in Ohio convict the nation that no more will innocent blood be shed by the canceling of the rights of the pre-born.

The "peace of Islam" and Iran's nuclear program



Mohamed ElBaradei spent a dozen years as head of the United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency. During that time, he continuously made excuses for Iran's nuclear program, stalling actions at the UN Security Council to prevent Russia, China and North Korea from assisting Iran in building a nuclear weapon. He even won a Nobel Peace Prize for it. He insisted that Iran was not building a nuclear weapon. Today, ElBaradei is working closely with the umbrella front for terrorist organizations (and the White House Middle East peace partner), the Muslim Brotherhood, as he vies for the presidency of Egypt. Now Iran is testing missiles capable of delivering nukes to Israel and US assets in the Middle East.



The British Foreign Secretary has announced that Iran has conducted secret tests of missiles capable of delivering nuclear warheads in breach of UN resolutions. William Hague said, "Iran has also been carrying out covert ballistic missile tests and rocket launches, including testing missiles capable of delivering a nuclear payload in contravention of UN resolution 1929." This is no big revelation. It is also no big revelation that Iran is processing uranium at a rate far higher than needed for any peaceful use--unless, of course, Iran has been honest all along with its intent of the nuclear program--that it was using the nuclear program to spread the "peace of Islam" worldwide.



This is something that Western diplomats have misinterpreted for nearly a decade--the so-called "peace" of Islam. Though many who know and understand Islam can readily say it, it is amazing that diplomats and politicians have no understanding of it. The "peace of Islam" means that the world would come under submission to Islam, hence bringing the peace of Islam to the world. This is how in Islamic eschatology the Islamic Mahdi (which coincides with the Christian anti-Christ) rises to power and subdues the world. Iran's dictator Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has been speaking this for years, and sees himself as an apocalyptic agent chosen to usher in the Islamic end times.



It is amazing that former President George W Bush would proclaim that Islam is a religion of peace. That the man now occupying the Oval Office would follow suit and actually partner with the terrorist supporting Muslim Brotherhood to "reform" the Middle East in the name of Islamic peace. Further, it is clear now that ElBaradei is an agent for Islamic peace, rather than true peace. The end time scenario is shaping up quickly and Christians must understand something that diplomats and politicians do not: The peace of Islam is a worldwide Caliphate as administered by Sharia law. It is the antithesis of every thing Christian. As Jeremiah 8:11 warns of those, "saying peace, peace, when there is no peace."

Double Minded Congress and the Moral Dilemma



James 1:8 tells us "A double minded man is unstable in all his ways." What happens when you have 535 of them, and they are responsible for originating a budget, allocating money, and deciding whether to go to war--and they are running the country? You have runaway spending that puts the days of American exceptionalism behind us for generations, demeans us to the status of a second or third world country (in its worst case), and a president run amuck is allowed to conduct multiple wars at a time as part of some "reform" strategy of nation building that isn't even mentioned in the US Constitution. In other words, the nation is a mess, and it will likely get worse before it gets better.



Americans have been asleep at the switch. Even more, the majority of Christian Americans are so busy getting nothing accomplished apart from inwardly-focused, feel good, extra-biblical, emotionally-based, self indulgent distractions that there is no longer any moral bearing leading the way in this country. Romans 10:13 says, "For Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." The next verse then asks: "How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?" Oh, yes, the church is preaching all right--but not a whole lot about Christ and the civic responsibility required of disciples.



The most recent example of the lack of moral leadership in this country came on a vote in the House of Representatives Friday, June 24, regarding the president's nation building war in Libya. The House voted 295 to 123 against a resolution supporting the president's Libyan war. Then voted 238 to 180 to allow funding for the effort to continue. Double-minded? Definitely. We are overwhelmingly against this war, the House says, but you go ahead and fight. And this is the prime example of why our nation is in such a state. Congress does nothing to stop these things. This is not the first time--the president refusing to end his ban on drilling for oil against a court order, his refusal to defend laws upholding marriage, and so on.



When a president goes against the laws of the very nation of which he swore to uphold the law, he should be held accountable. How then shall he be held accountable if those charged with that responsibility will not do their job? It means that we, the people, must hold them accountable. America faces a moral dilemma that is causing the nation to collapse. Unless God's people stop chasing the winds of self-indulged doctrine and focus on Jesus Christ, we have no chance as a people. And if you are focused on Jesus, then you will know that in our system of government, there must be accountability. Your civic duty as a disciple must be fulfilled. The strength of societal fabric is in the thread of Christianity.

Clinton to the people's chamber: Whose side are you on?



Congress is laying the groundwork for a vote on whether it will fund the White House's war in Libya. There are members of Congress in both political parties against the Libyan hostilities. On June 22, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was in Jamaica for a conference where she was asked a question about America's involvement in Libya. Her reply was astonishing because it clearly revealed the mentality of this Administration. She asked Congress whose side it was on?--the side of dictator and terrorist Moammar Qadhafi or the Libyan people. And she firmly implied that the White House stood for the LIbyan people. This is what she said:



"I say with all respect that the Congress is certainly free to raise any questions or objections, and I'm sure I will hear that tomorrow when I testify. But the bottom line is, whose side are you on? Are you on Qadhafi's side or are you on the side of the aspirations of the Libyan people and the international coalition that has been created to support them? For the Obama Administration, the answer to that question is very easy." The Libyan people, according to the White House and Mrs. Clinton are represented by the Muslim Brotherhood, al Qaeda, and former leaders of the Libya Islamic Fighting Group, which was designated in 2008 by her own State Department as "the most serious threat to US interests and personnel in Libya."



When the Founding Fathers established the three branches of the federal government, they wanted the US House of Representatives to be the "People's House." They therefore vested certain enumerated powers in the House, including the responsibility to declare war and to appropriate funds for war. These representatives were elected every two years to keep them close to the people. When the Secretary of State asks Congress, "Whose side are you on?" the proper answer would be that of the American people, not the Libyan people. The Libyan people never elected the Congress or this Administration. Clinton's taunting of Congress should be quite revealing to the discerning American.



Actually, the American people should be asking the question as to who's side this Administration is on. Clinton's top aide has family ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. The Muslim Brotherhood is now this Administration's Middle East "peace partner." It is an amazing thing when our government is partnering with the very organization that has public plans to overthrow it. Notwithstanding, the Muslim Brotherhood's core principle of establishing Sharia Law is the antithesis of everything American and Christian. I believe I see whose side the White House is supporting. I am with Joshua who said in Joshua 24:15, "as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." So should be the response of the People's House.

STARTLING--White House: Objective not to defeat Taliban



The president's announcement that he will withdraw 33,000 (roughly a third) US troops from Afghanistan is an indicator of tremendous foreign policy decisions at the expense of American lives and national security. The US president's decision may result in handing over Afghanistan to terrorists. Last week, reports surfaced that the president ignored the warnings of his military commanders that this announcement and the subsequent withdrawal would negatively impact operations in Afghanistan. Among the concerns were the emboldening of Taliban terrorists. According to CNSNews.com, in the three years since this president took office, 63% of the total deaths for the US military in Afghanistan have occurred.



Last week, White House spokesman Jay Carney danced all around the question of whether the US had entered direct peace talks with the Taliban. On CNN's June 19 "State of the Union" show, Defense Secretary Robert Gates confirmed the US was talking peace to the Taliban. The Pakistan newspaper Dawn reported June 21 that "Mid-ranking US State Department and CIA officials have met Taliban representatives led by Tayyab Agha, a personal aide of Mullah Omar, at least thrice since January 2011 - once in Qatar and twice in Germany." The White House, therefore, is not only in talks with terrorists, but has been holding such talks for half a year. It is amazing that the foreign press reports this, but not the American media.



From the White House on Tuesday, Carney made a startling statement that was again largely overlooked by the news media. He said, "Now, it is important to note that defeating the Taliban is not the objective here. Reversing the momentum of the Taliban is an objective, and we have had significant success in achieving that objective." In announcing the war on terror September 20, 2001, President George W Bush made specific demands on the Taliban that if not met, meant the US would seek its total defeat. The current president without notice to the American people changed the objective, is suing for peace, at a time when Taliban terrorists are killing our sons and daughters at a record pace. This is a sign of weakness to Islam.



Carney then said, "I think it's important to point out that this is an Afghan-led process, because this is not reconciliation between US forces or US personnel and the Taliban. It's a reconciliation between Afghans, between the Afghan government representative of the people and the Afghan Taliban." Last night the president addressed America from a White House hallway. He was not flanked by the American flag, neither the flag of the President. There was no flag. What is going on here? We are not there to defeat the Taliban; they are at war with Afghanis not America; we ask for peace when terrorist kill us in record numbers? Where is our solid ground? Proverbs 29:2 says, "when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn."

The parallel politics of presidents and terrorists



The US president is in full campaign swing--everything is political these days. Well almost everything. Its a political decision to announce bringing home the troops in Afghanistan against his general's wise council. I, for one, want our troops home. If we are not going to fight terrorism, but rather assist in building a nation for terrorist groups to rule, our troops should be home. But this is where things are not so "election" oriented, or are actually a different type of politics. White House policies in the Middle East are undoubtedly pro-Islamic in the guise of pro-democracy, and there are parallel tracks of politics being played--the American people, our troops, and Israel are caught in the president's political snare.



On the home front, there is a campaign promise to be fulfilled--that the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan will be brought home. This promise has nothing to do with victory or national security. It has everything to do with gaining votes. Its been ten long years of war. 'Seems as though with America's superior firepower, those places could have been subdued and terrorists rooted out in short order, but then the whole unconstitutional aspect of nation building crept in. The guise, however, is extended into the dark shadows of Islamic deceit where this White House is promoting democracy through its partner the Muslim Brotherhood--documented to be behind terrorist groups such as Hamas, al Qaeda and the Taliban.



There is a 2006 film called "The Brotherhood" where producer PBS states: "Award winning Newsweek journalists Mark Hosenball and Michael Isikoff investigate a movement that preaches peaceful co-existence but also supports suicide bombings in Israel and offers inspiration for many violent jihadi groups." The Muslim Brotherhood was also part of the Holyland Foundation trial where prosecutors submitted a Brotherhood plan to takeover the United States through a "Civilization Jihad." These investigations and court transcripts point to the Brotherhood as a deceitful organization that puts on a non-violent, moderate front, while supporting worldwide jihad to establish an Islamic Caliphate under Sharia Law.



At a June 20 reelection fundraiser with Democratic Friends of Israel, the president said of the US-Israel relationship: "There are going to be moments over the course of the next six months or the next 12 months or the next 24 months in which there may be tactical disagreements in terms of how we approach these difficult problems." The tactical disagreements are actually related to the White House strategy of working with the Muslim Brotherhood to overthrow Middle Eastern rulers and creating states even more hostile to Israel and the United States. This does not bode well for America. The Lord said to Abram of Israel in Genesis 12:3, "I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee." Promoting Islam is not a blessing.

Top Ten Issues Contributing to the Demise of America



The top ten issues contributing to the demise of this country are not as obvious as one might think. Of course, we can all agree that government spending, homosexuality, taking God out of the public square, marriage under attack, political correctness, one world foreign policy, abortion, limiting freedom of religion, taxes, unemployment, and inflation may be issues that are tearing apart our nation. But I believe, and you may disagree or agree, that the way to solve all these issues is not by focusing on the issues themselves, but rather on the cause of the issues. In reality, there are another set of top ten issues that if they were solved, there would be no problem whatsoever in this nation. Here's my take on them (early apologies to those who like the short "Jots", please bear with me):



Lack of a relationship with the one true God. The first commandment is "Thou shalt have no other gods before me (Exodus 20:3)." If you are going to be tolerant of other gods--Islam, for example, you are bowing down to them because Islam means submission to allah. In order to turn around your life, the life of your family, the lives of your countrymen, you must have a relationship with God and know Him and be obedient to him.



Putting idols before God, family and country. The second commandment is "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth (Exodus 20:4)." The Lord goes on to say in verse 5: "Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me." Is television your idol? Is your job your idol? Is your spouse or children your idol? Is your political party your idol? Who are you serving and why? The condition of this nation cannot change without its people putting aside their idols and serving God.



Misguided and false doctrines. If you are a Christian who sits around waiting for the rapture, or shuns involvement in the public square because you wish to be holy, or whatever the excuse, it is likely you are following a false doctrine. These false doctrines can be anything taught in the church that distracts you from doing what Christ commanded, especially in the Great Commission (preaching the gospel to the world and making disciples). If we were all doing what Christ told us to do, our nation would be an irresistible beacon. Instead it is falling apart. Ephesians 4:14 says, "That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive."



Lack of knowledge. Hosea 4:6 says, "My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge." With all our technology and information, we have become a most ignorant people. In order to know how to restore a family, a community or a nation, we need to understand the principles of God. Our history, the heritage of the social contract that spawned recognition of inalienable rights from God and why we protect them with a limited government; how current issues match up with God's word; the principles of the Bible that cause a man to prosper or his demise--are all knowledge of which this contemporary American society is largely ignorant. If you want to change the society, it seems that you have to know where it has been, where it is, and why, then apply biblical principles to fix it. How can you do that if you lack knowledge?



Separation of Church and Society. Jesus said in Matthew 5:16, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." If your church has become a club with no or little outreach, it could be separated from society. If you are allowing society or accepting that society is able to preclude God from the public square, you are unable to let your light so shine. There can be no separation of Church from society in the sense that Romans 12:21 charges us to overcome evil with good. All too often church has become so grafted to society or ingrained in the humanist way that people cannot tell the sheep from the goats.



Lack of moral clarity. We are supposed to be in the world, not of it. 1 John 2:15 tells us "Love not the world, neither the things in the world." We need to know biblical morals and apply them to our society. The whole separation of church and state argument has had a horrible impact on Christians. How many have come to believe this? Even Exodus 18:21 tells us how to select our leaders: "Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them to be rules of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens." America's founders believed that our Republic could not survive without moral and religious people in leadership. From the government schools to television to social media--all these things are breaking down moral clarity by the second.



Apathy. Ephesians 6:19, 20 says, "And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak." We are not to be an apathetic people. Yet how many of us are so bogged down with all things in life that we do not even care to get up and do something about the condition of our family, our community or our nation? One person can make a difference. You can make a difference.



Pride. Proverbs 16:18 says, "Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall." Pride stands in the way of a lot of things. 2 Chronicles 7:14 says, "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." Want your land/nation healed--this is the formula, but you have to give up the pride first.



Paralysis. Paralysis is caused by being totally overwhelmed by the immensity of the issues we face. They have become so great that we cannot begin to wrap our minds around understanding them, let alone how to solve them. But the Word of God again has the answer: Philippines 4:13 says, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." 2 Timothy 1:7 says, "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." Every problem is solved by starting to solve it. Paralysis is not an answer.



Covetousness. Exodus 20:17 says, "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, thou shalt not covet they neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor hi ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbor's." We do not need to keep up with the Jones's. This is a distraction. Covetousness is what has caused the government to run up debt so huge that every family owes some $520,000 as their share of it. This is a great evil perpetrated upon our lives. If we were not working so hard to accumulate stuff, we would have time to exercise our civic duty.



These ten items are starting points. They are just my opinion. I believe that we need to change hearts in order to change the nation. If people were truly living the Christian life, the issues mentioned in the first paragraph would not even exists. Building up people is a lot harder than sitting back and complaining about the world around us. But that is what we are called to do. Blessings to you and your house. Be encouraged, even inspired.

The Way its Done



Many have been asking me what we can do to turn around the nation. I believe in The Great Commission. Jesus told us in Matthew 28:19, 20, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world." He said in Mark 13:15, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." And in Acts 1:8, "But ye shall receive power, after the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."



These are pretty plain commandments. And I contend that if each of us who call ourselves Christians were to do exactly what Jesus commanded in these three verses, there would be no pressing political, economic, social, or moral problems. Only when we do not do what the Lord tells us is when we sail into troubled water. It truly is a matter of heart. What do you want more? The idols of day to day striving, or to live in a society that has been evangelized and people follow the will of God. Think about it. The Apostle Paul said in Romans 10:17, "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Verse 14 asks, "and how shall they hear without a preacher?" That preacher is you and me.



Some examples. A Texas judge banned prayer at a graduation. The judge has a history of anti-Christian rulings. The AGAPE Movement in Wichita Falls has asked for his resignation and is pressing to remove this judge from the bench. AGAPE is recruiting Christians in other areas to do similar acts. Kay Godwin in Georgia is inviting ten people to her house. She asked me to prepare the "10 issues leading to the demise of America." She is going to share these with her ten guests. She is asking each of the ten guests to hold meetings at their houses with ten guests and share the same. After five such meetings, if everybody did their jobs, 100,000 people can be reached.



This past weekend, over 50 church leaders in the Frederick, Md area gathered at the fairgrounds for Convoy of Hope. Over 1,200 volunteers reached out to the community in the name of Christ. Some 5,000 people were prayed for, handed clothing, food, shoes, given haircuts, and even had their feet washed in a demonstration of Christ's love. These are all things that change people's hearts. They start with a vision that the Lord gave. You have to lead or follow, but don't just do nothing. It took us a long time to get into the mess we are in because Christians retreated to their pews on Sunday instead of going to the "uttermost part of the earth." It starts by repentance, prayer, then action. Look in the mirror, God's got something special for you.

What's it going to take?



The Congress and the White House are locking horns over the audacity of the president reporting to Congress that the United States is not involved in hostilities in Libya. Even deeper is seemingly overwhelming evidence that the White House is funding Libyan rebels with ties to al Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood, a terrorist sponsoring group wishing to overthrow the United States with "Civilization Jihad," is now a foreign policy partner. Peeling back the layers of deception on this political onion reveals an undeniable trend that this White House is supporting the advancement of radical Islam through its Middle East "reform" policy, which is a threat to national security--a genuine Constitutional crisis.



Last week, my son Christian had dinner with House Speaker John Boehner. It's part of the Ashbrook Center for Public Affairs at Ashland University where my son participates as an Ashbrook Scholar. Christian was all fired up that Congressman Boehner was going to take on the president with respect to the illegal and unethical war in Libya. But Christian has also lamented that so very few of his generation even know that we are in a war in Libya. He says that so many of his contemporaries are more concerned about partying, playing video games, and hanging out, that they could care less about the direction their country is taking. He believes it poses an extraordinary challenge for future leaders.



Another leadership vacuum...On one end of the spectrum, the church is busy laying hands on people and prophesying about how many great things they are going to be doing, jobs they are going to have, wealth they are going to accumulate and on and on. On the other end of the spectrum, the church is busy sitting in its pews on Sundays, listening to another boring sermon, looking at their watches and eager to get it over with. In between are the workers busy doing a lot and getting nothing done. There is a small, and I believe it to be very small, remnant that is concerned about the very salvation of their neighbors and the soul of their nation. They are trying really hard to do what is right in the eyes of God.



I remember the Vietnam War era where the communists organized gullible young people into massive protest forces against war. Are communists the only ones that organize war protests? Can it be that good people, with solid morals, who know right from wrong, and strive to do the right thing, just do not want to put their foot down and draw a line in the sand? Is it going to take our sons or grandsons being killed in the vain support of a disguised Islamic Caliphate before we act? You see, this is not just about America, its about the advance of a principality of darkness manifest in the physical. Romans 13:12 says, "The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light."

President's Libyan War Report to Congress misrepresents US support of terrorists

WASH--Jun 16--The president's 38 page report to Congress justifying the war in Libya raises questions over whether he has broken several laws and is in violation of the US Constitution. One is Article 1, Section 8 that empowers only Congress to declare war. Another is whether the president is materially supporting terrorists and terrorist groups in prosecuting his policy of nation building across the Islamic world. Still another is whether it is Constitutional for a president to use, as he put it, "all of the diplomatic, economic and strategic tools at our disposal...to promote reform across the region, and to support transitions to democracy." There are no enumerated powers in the Constitution that allow nation building or imperialism.



In his report to Congress released June 15, the president continues to make a humanitarian case for the war in Libya. Notwithstanding, the War Powers Act requires an act of Congress for a president to continue "any use of United States Armed Forces" that required such a report. Congress has not so acted. The President is acting in defiance of War Powers, and Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution. He claims he has kept Congress informed on the Libyan war, and therefore, is well within his authority to continue it without Congressional approval. War Powers and the Constitution, however, are not about informing, but rather authority. Congress will eventually determine where the president stands.



Page 24 of his report is dedicated to dispelling any consideration of American tax dollars and US military being used to aid and abet terrorists. It appears that the president has either ignored or completely discounted reports from his own State Department, his Joint Chiefs of Staff, and at least seven independent media sources that say otherwise.



The president's report states on page 24:



"We are not aware of any direct relationship between the TNC [sic. Transitional National Council] and al-Qaeda, Hezbollah, the Libya Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) or any other terrorist organization. There are reports that former members of the LIFG, which had been initially formed as an anti-Qadhafi group, are present in Eastern Libya and that some of them were fighting with opposition forces on the front lines against the regime. During the past two years, the Government of Libya had instituted a program to rehabilitate and release from prison members of the LIFG who had renounced terrorism, and some of the former LIFG members in Eastern Libya had participated in this program. The TNC has consistently and publicly rejected terrorism and extremist influences and we have not observed any TNC support or endorsement of the LIFG.



"In addition, the TNC has publicly declared the secular nature of its organization. The TNC and other members of the opposition have actively worked to open up Eastern Libya to civil society groups for the first time in the 42 years since Qadhafi took power. As a result, non-regime groups that had been previously banned, including the Libyan Muslim Brotherhood, have now organized and are participating in Libyan society. From public press reports, we understand that the Libyan Muslim Brotherhood has declared its support for moderate Islam, emphasized the important role of women in society-building, and formed a relief organization in Benghazi."



This report mischaracterizes and/or does not disclose the entire truth to Congress or to the American people about the US-supported "opposition forces" in Libya.



On March 29, 10 days after the president announced military action in Libya, NATO's Supreme Allied Commander, Europe and Chief of the US European Command, Admiral James Stavridis testified before the US Senate. He said there were "flickers in the intelligence of potential al Qaeda, Hizbollah; we've seen different things...But at this point, I don't have detail sufficient to say there is a significant al Qaeda presence or any other terrorist presence."



The direct relationship between America's Libyan support and terrorist groups comes in two forms--the military leader of the Libyan rebel movement and the Muslim Brotherhood.



The Libya Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) mentioned on page 24 has been dedicated since its inception in 1995 to overthrowing the Gaddafi government. It is the subject of State Department reports on terrorism in December 2004 and again in April 2008. State designated LIFG as a "Foreign Terrorist Organization" and that some senior members "are believed to be or have belonged to al Qaeda's senior command structure, and now are part of the support network of the broader international jihadist movement...LIFG constitutes the most serious threat to US interests and personnel in Libya." On November 3, 2007, Al Jazeera reported and the State Department confirmed that LIFG became the Libyan wing of al Qaeda.



The American supported leader of the Libyan rebels is Abdel-Hakim al-Hasidi. Hasidi was a leader in the LIFG. According to the New York Times, the Italian newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore, and the UK Telegraph, Hasidi and 25 men from the Derna, Libya area fought against American soldiers in Afghanistan. Hasidi was captured in 2002 in Pakistan, turned over to the US, who turned him over to Libya, where he spent the rest of the time in jail before being released in 2008. To secure his release, he had to take a non-violence pledge as part of the reform program spoken of on page 24 of the president's report. However, Hasidi is now conducting a violent campaign to overthrow Gaddafi. His word is not his bond.



He said there are al Qaeda fighters from Afghanistan now fighting in Libya. He told the Italian newspaper, "Some came back and today are on the Ajdabiya front; they are patriots and good Muslims, not terrorists. I condemn the September 11 attacks, and attacks against innocent civilians in general. But the members of al Qaeda are also good Muslims, and are fighting against the invader." He also said he praised Osama bin Laden's "good points." His words are contradictory. He condemned attacks against civilians, but said al Qaeda are good Muslims fighting against America. He also offered praise for bin Laden. Hasidi's terrorist actions, connections, and intentions are undeniable. The French daily Le Figaro identified Hasidi as the "voice of Libya's Islamists" and claimed that a transitional government could only be formed with his approval.



Hasidi's rebels caught the attention of Chad's president Deby Itno. Itno told the weekly Jeune Afrique April 4th that the Libyan rebels were raiding Gaddafi's arsenals in the Derna region and selling them to al Qaeda. The UK Telegraph confirmed these reports independently saying that a convoy of eight Toyotas full of weapons travelled through Chad and Niger to al Qaeda in Mali. The Telegraph said, "We know that this is not the first convoy and that it is still ongoing."



The Administration's public relations campaign to date has been to dress up these rebels as trustworthy professionals, doctors, attorneys, teachers, students, etc., when the evidence suggests that they are Islamists and supporters of terrorism posing as a legitimate alternative to the Gaddafi dictatorship. The "suits" that have been paraded around to all the NATO coalition members downplay al Qaeda involvement.



For example, the chief representative of the TNC, Ali Aujali, has made his rounds, one such stop at the Washington, DC think tank American Enterprise Institute on April 11. He said, "Some are coming from the position that al Qaeda was there. Some al Qaeda, yes...most of them from the small cities. They graduated from the universities. They have no job. They are doing nothing. Unfortunately, al Qaeda was able to recruit some of them." He says that after rehabilitation, "they changed their attitude completely." Then he goes on to say that none of the al Qaeda fighters were involved with the rebels, directly contradicting Hasidi, who also was a product of rehabilitation and sworn to nonviolence. Such oaths have become foundational to the pattern of deception employed by representatives of Islam.



A similar portrait has been painted of the Muslim Brotherhood. The Muslim Brotherhood is a founder and supporter of terrorist organizations worldwide. It has been listed as a terrorist supporting group by the federal government. In the Texas Holyland Foundation trial, Federal prosecutors entered as evidence a Muslim Brotherhood plan to overthrow the United States by conducting a "Civilization Jihad." This plan never has been denounced or retracted, but the president has adopted the Muslim Brotherhood as his preferred organization to bring about democracy in Islamic nations. The Muslim Brotherhood is dedicated to the implementation of global Sharia Law and states that it will work with any Islamic group to attain that goal.



The evidence is overwhelming that the US president is downplaying or even misrepresenting his use of American military and diplomatic support of Libyan rebels who are terrorists, supporters of terrorists, and radical Islamists.

Over the next few weeks, The Daily Jot will from time to time discuss the entire concept of nation building as it relates to the Middle East and what now are terrorist allies. This is important because it is an indicator of leadership gone terribly awry. While the world was analyzing the US president's May 19 speech on Middle East policy from the lens of how it impacts Israel, a much greater and problematic aspect of the speech was largely overlooked. It is the nearly unbelievable public shift in foreign policy toward nation building and opening up Middle Eastern nations to so-called self determination by applying all the tools at America's disposal--military, financial, political--to destabilize current governments and institute self rule.



He said, "Today I want to make it clear that it is a top priority that must be translated into concrete actions, and supported by all of the diplomatic, economic and strategic tools at our disposal. Let me be specific. First, it will be the policy of the United States to promote reform across the region, and to support transitions to democracy." He admitted, "Not every country will follow our particular form of representative democracy, and there will be times when our short-term interests don't align perfectly with our long-term vision for the region." This admission is in reality a disclaimer that terrorist organizations may well end up in power. They will because this White House is funding them and partnering with them.



The overall consequence of this stated policy will be terrorist-supporting groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood, al Qaeda, and al Qaeda wings rising to power in these nations in the name of self determination. Worse yet, your tax money and your children will be used to assist in this horrible cause. Already, the president and Congress are squaring off over the Constitutionality of America's involvement in the war in Libya. It is an undeniable example of where the US, against the Constitution and many other laws, is funding the overthrow of a government through rebel leadership that was not only fighting against American soldiers in Afghanistan, but also has an intimate relationship with al Qaeda.



Yes, unfortunately America has been involved in nation building in the past. But America's leaders--of both political parties--are guilty of allowing this White House to advance a nation building strategy that involves organizations whose stated purpose is to destroy Israel and takeover the United States. I know it is difficult to believe. In the weeks ahead, however, The Daily Jot will show you proof. Paul wrote to Timothy in 2 Timothy 3:13, "But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived." Let us not be among those who are deceived. We will seek the truth and then we will have to develop a plan of action to overcome evil with good.

Its no laughing matter



I love laughter. I joke around a lot. In fact, my wife reminds me often about when it is appropriate to joke around and, especially, when it is not. And I have learned over the years that there are boundaries. Sometimes I joke about something to make a point, or even to make someone uncomfortable. A joke often is told in a very dire situation to break the intensity. A joke can be used as a way to illustrate the truth of a situation. The man who occupies the Oval Office was meeting with his Jobs Council about the horrible condition of the US economy. And after being told that his projects were taking too long, he interjected, "Shovel-ready was not as...uh...shovel-ready as we expected." They all burst out in laughter.



These people and the president are charged with economic recovery. More people have lost their homes than at any time in American history. Unemployment is over nine percent, but in reality about one in five of those wanting a job do not have one. There is White House supported labor unrest. This particular president has spent more taxpayer money than any of his predecessors--combined. American suffering seems to only have begun as the national debt piles up and total government commitments reach over $500,000 for every family. The ability to pursue happiness is fast becoming a distant dream turned nightmare due to these policies. And he's telling jokes about his failures? And the Jobs Council is laughing?



We are involved in at least five wars. This president has pledged more by saying he will put the full weight of America's resources behind promoting "reform" in the Middle East--this means that he is committing America to overthrowing governments and nation building. And he is working with terrorists--sworn enemies of the United States--to accomplish these policies. Yes, let us be real. The Muslim Brotherhood is a terrorist sponsoring organization with a plan to create "Civilization Jihad" to overthrow the United States. American taxpayer money is funding a branch of al Qaeda in Libya. This president has said he wants Israel to retreat to indefensible borders in the name of peace.



This is no laughing matter. Words can say anything. Actions speak volumes. This president and his administration is just merrily going along and destroying the Republic. From marriage to jobs to housing to foreign policy, all things of American exceptionalism are being destroyed by this administration. He is telling jokes about it. Solomon wrote in Ecclesiastes 7:6, "For as the crackling of thorns under a pot, so is the laughter of the fool." There are many in this nation who are crackling under the thorns of immoral, unethical and ungodly government policies. We may laugh to break the intensity. But for us, Proverbs 14:13 is true: "Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is heaviness."

You don't need to know



A blogger covering the secret Bilderberg meetings in Switzerland for the UK Guardian reported that the billionaire conspirators, think tank super minds, and politicians went for a walk over the weekend. Some protesters caught up with Airbus CEO Tom Enders. One of them said that there are politicians inside and wondered why the meetings were so secret. The report says Enders just smiled at the protester and said, "I don't have to tell you, and you don't need to know." That about sums it up. Its a private meeting of private people, with the exception of several government officials and politicians, and the normal folks "don't need to know" what they are talking about.



Those representing the United States alone have enough government representatives that Americans should demand under the Freedom of Information Act to know what is being discussed. Christine Varney, Assistant Attorney General, James Steinber, Deputy Secretary of State, are attending and there are reports that Robert Gates, US Defense Secretary, is there--just to name a few. Then you have the top dogs from Microsoft, Google, Amazon, LinkedIn, Facebook, CitiCorp, Chase Manhattan, Federal Reserve, and a host of others. All the big Washington, DC based think tanks are also there. There are public officials in attendance that have not been listed on the partial list.



We know from previous reports that world finance is on the agenda of topics to be discussed. These people have made such a mess of the financial aspects of the US economy and that of Europe's that there is no money left to barely kick start the grand opening of a lemonade stand. But these privateers have made their money. Another reported agenda item is war. It is generally understood from reporters covering this meeting that the powers around the world want disruption in the Middle East to continue because it is good for their businesses. They applaud the current White House policy to support reform across the Middle East. There is money to be made in war.



Trouble is, the sons and daughters of America will be sacrificed for their greed. One of the great things about the American system of representative government is that the elite do not get to decide these matters. It is We The People who have the power. We The People do not have to go along with the plan to elevate terrorists to power so there is continued war and war machine profits. An apt description of these Bilderbergs is found in Isaiah 59:4, "None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity." When our own president is puppet to these puppeteers, we must stand to stop it. That is their fear. But "you don't need to know."

The forces of darkness meet in secret; let our light so shine!



What do the executive officers of Alcoa, Royal Dutch Shell, Coca-Cola, Goldman Sachs, Clarium Capital Management, and Airbus have in common with Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, the American Enterprise Institute, the Hudson Institute, and David Rockefeller? These are all members of the steering committee for one of the most secretive organizations on earth--The Bilderberg group. This secret society is holding its annual meeting in Switzerland this week. According to Bilderberg investigative journalist Jim Tucker, the globalists will be discussing how to broaden their profit making with the war in Libya, measures to globalize national sovereignty, and use high gas prices to control economies.



Bilderberg attendees provoke vast conspiracy theories about global control, war profiteering, and destroying and building economies for profit and global governance. Indeed, its secretive meetings, agendas and combined global political and financial power serve to fuel the fire of those with wild imaginations. But in reality, much of group think, governmental policies and world events seem to fall in line with the Bilderberg agenda. There are also overlapping secret societies that muster globalist muscle of similar fame--Freemasons, the Bohemian Club, the Illuminati, the Trilateral Commission. There are also more open globalist promoting societies such as the Council on Foreign Relations and the Carlyle Group.



These organizations are dedicated to controlling the world through a one world order that is favorable to their independent positions. A rival group to these wealthy and influential globalists may well be Islam. The concept of Islam is to take over the world in the name of allah and establish Sharia Law over all the nations which would then submit to this cultic economic and political system disguised as a religion. All of these have one goal in common--world domination. They are dark and evil organizations that manipulate, plot, conspire, and kill, steal and destroy. In that, they have one father in common, satan, who uses them as tools to put people on the path to hell and to usher in his global government.



These conspirators have no authority in the Kingdom of God. 1 Corinthians 4:4,5 says, "For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judges me is the Lord. Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God." Our job is not to be troubled by these sinister forces, but rather as Romans 13:12 says, "cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light." There is a lot written in the Bible about the Lord's people being of light and not darkness. So as the forces of darkness gather, let us let our light scatter them.

When the wicked bear rule, the people mourn

USA Today has published an alarming story that debt/unfunded obligations of the Federal Government have reached $527,000 per household. In other words, you and I are more than half a million dollars in debt that the government put us into. How are we going to get out? The total figure of unfunded obligations, according to USA Today is $61.6 trillion. The reporter interviewed an accountant who said the federal debt--at a mere $14 trillion-plus--does not take into account what the government owes to veterans, seniors and retired employees. Its kind of a bait and switch technique that is being used to not give the public a clear picture of the dire straights in which our leadership has placed this nation.



There also seems to be no governor on the spending. The president has announced billions more in aid to Middle East countries that are overthrowing their governments. He also pledged some unknown amount of taxpayer money to support a $100 billion European Union bailout of Greece. There also is no small amount of politics being played with taxpayer money. The cronies in labor unions, mortgage banking, the auto industry, and Wall Street have captured most of the trillions of economic bailout money in America--that is, what is actually accounted for. Meanwhile, the president says he will defund low-income health care for Indiana residents if they defund the Planned Parenthood abortion mill.



The framers of the US Constitution wisely established a set of checks and balances that one section of the government would not be more powerful than another. And all three branches were to be accountable to the people. Hence we have an extensive elective process that proceeds from the very local level through states all the way to the federal government. There is, however, on small problem: When the people do not exercise their civic responsibility and leave it to the politicians they elect. The system of accountability breaks down when elected officials serve the best interests of the political system rather than be forced to serve those who elect them. And that is why we are in trouble as a nation.



John Adams said, "Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." William Paterson, signer of the Constitution and a Supreme Court judge appointed by George Washington said, "Religion and morality are necessary to good government, good order, and good laws, for when the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice." Indeed, Proverbs 29:2 is wisdom: "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked bear rule, the people mourn." As President Reagan said, "If not us, who? If not now, when?"

Submitting to Islam: White House policies' dangerous trek



Having a cup of coffee at the San Antonio airport, I was observing people go through security. It occurred to me after watching a white grandmother in her early 60's having her very private parts groped in full view of the public, that this is America submitting to Islam. We take off our shoes, belts, give up our belongings and submit to an invasive search every time we want to fly. Why? Because of Islam. This grandmother was visiting her granddaughter who was born 10 weeks premature. She said she has accepted the groping because she wants to fly. She has a prosthetic shoulder and hip. Her husband watched in disgust. This is just the beginning, however, if the White House policies on the Middle East continue.



White House policies on the Middle East are leading this nation down the path of submission to Islam. Rand Corporation researchers have issued a report warning that Iran is eight weeks from having enough enriched uranium to make a nuclear bomb. Iran has been working with China, North Korea, and Russia to achieve this milestone. All the while, the Administration's trusted source at the United Nations, Mohamed El Baradei denied for years that Iran was making the bomb. El Baradei has since bolted to Egypt where he participated in overthrowing the Mubarak government. This White House supported coup was part of its Muslim Brotherhood partnership to usher in "democracy."



The president proclaimed a new direction in Middle East policy in his May 19 speech "to promote reform across the region, and to support transitions to democracy." Democracy, as we know in these Islamic countries, means the installation of radical Islam. In fact, Fox News reports that the White House has demanded the State Department support the terrorist sponsoring Muslim Brotherhood. A State Department analyst said, "this administration has been unrelenting about this, making a number of transfers and forced retirements in order to clear away irrational opposition to our new approach." He told Fox News the Brotherhood shares America's concern for human rights and democratic governance.



There are many in America that cannot fathom a US President throwing in with the bad guys. But it has happened. This president is destabilizing the Middle East by supporting revolution in the name of democratic reform at a time when he is also allowing Iran a free pass on making a nuclear bomb. He has told Israel it must revert to indefensible 1967 borders. The Religious Freedom Coalition reports that the president recently placed two activist Islamists in policy positions at Homeland Security and appointed an activist Islamic with ties to terrorist groups to US Attorney in Michigan. Jesus said in Matthew 24:4, "Take heed that no man deceive you." Getting groped at the airport is mild fare compared to what is coming.

The blessing in standing against evil



You might know that US District Court Judge Fred Biery's decision forbidding prayer or any type of mention of God at the Medina Valley High School graduation was overturned. But this is certainly not the end of it. At the invitation of AGAPE Movement, a Christian-based political activist group, I went to San Antonio to stand in prayer with the graduates, their parents and their families. It was the right thing to do. I dare say that had the decision banning God not been overturned, South Texas would have reenacted the Alamo. Instead, those of us there moved ourselves out of earshot and eye view of the news media and the stadium where graduates and speakers led prayer after prayer, and we held our own prayer rally.



Driving in to the stadium, there were signs in yards saying things like "God Bless MV (meaning Medina Valley) Class of 2011. Security was really tight, because there were threats against those who would have the audacity to exercise their First Amendment rights to free speech and the exercise of their religion. The wife of a school district official came over to greet us. She said that the leftists (Barry Lynn's Americans for Separation of Church and State, et al.) thought the school district would just roll over rather than spend the time and money to fight, then the prayer ban would become legal precedent in Texas. "Not with my husband," she said. "They picked the wrong school district. We decided to fight."



Its not over because the court granted a temporary restraining order against the religion ban by Judge Biery. Valedictorian Angela Hildenbrand still has a long way to press her suit on behalf of all our rights. Indeed, even the school district, as our sources reveal, will likely fight this frivolous nonsense for up to three years. But Texans that I talked to are willing to fight. They are tired of anti-Christian, anti-American minorities trying to take away their rights. And if a line in the sand has been drawn, the leftists who cross it are going find out the fight in the Texan. Already, calls have been made for the resignation of Biery for violating his oath of office. He may even be charged with obstruction of the law and there is talk of impeachment.



This is an example where prayer and action combined to change the outcome of an unjust ruling based on a judge wanting to improperly use the law to act out his hatred for Christians. It is an example of what Jesus said in Matthew 24:12 of the end times, "And because lawlessness shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold." God's law and the subsequent fulfillment of it by Christ requires the very active practice of our obligation to him, defined by the Founders as "religion." And we as Christians and as Americans must stand against such lawlessness when we are forbidden by judges to exercise our religion. When we pray and act, and having done all, stand, wonderful things happen. We should do such often.

The unlawful awful rule of lawlessness



Most every year at this time some humanist judge misinterprets the law and rules that there can be no prayer or benediction at a graduation ceremony. This year, it was US District Judge Fred Biery in Texas who ruled that the Medina Valley School District cannot offer a prayer at its graduation otherwise the school is "sponsoring a religion." Valedictorian Angela Hildenbrand is standing up to Judge Biery. She says that her "liberties are being infringed upon by this court's ruling to censor" her speech. And the Liberty Institute has filed suit on behalf of Hildenbrand to challenge the decision. Even the Texas Attorney General is up in arms, saying its part of an ongoing attempt to purge God from the public setting.



Judge Biery should be removed from the bench, disbarred and dethroned. The First Amendment is written in plain English and the Constitution is the Supreme Law of the country. It is based on the Supreme Law of the universe--God's law. It is the social contract with the American people. It says plainly, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." That means hands off, no matter where or in what circumstance religion is exercised. Judge Biery obviously does not know the meaning of plain words or he has another agenda, which in prosecuting his duties as an unbiased source of the law, he is in violation of his oath of office.



An unjust law is no law at all. The definition of unjust is derived from the laws of God as presented in the Holy Bible. The foundation of all law in civil societies is from God's law. This is a historic fact that is traceable to the very beginnings of law in the time of Moses, through the generations into Roman and Greek societies, through the Magna Charter, English Common Law and the US Constitution. It is Biblical and Scriptural to stand against unjust laws and unjust enforcement of laws. When Peter was brought before the authorities for preaching Jesus, Acts 5:29 says, "Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men."



Even in Acts 4:18-21, Peter and John had this exchange with the Sadducees: "And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard." And by law, you and I and every child are allowed to exercise our right to religion in any setting we wish. Its sad that lawsuits have to be filed against Judges like Biery. In reality, all of Texas should come to the graduation and pray, then run Biery out of the state for the disgraceful and unlawful way he rules.

Consequences of Biblical proportions--The pending American depression



CNBC is carrying a story where market strategist Peter Yastrow predicts "We're on the verge of a great, great depression." Yastrow cites as factors that homeowners are upside down in their mortgages, the slow pace of the technology sector, and the Federal Reserve's control of interest rates. He says, "What we've got right now is almost near panic going on with money managers and people who are responsible for money" because they cannot find a yield. Another fund manager quoted by CNBC says, "It seems that almost every bit of data about the health of the US economy has disappointed expectations recently."



There is a premise here that seems to be overlooked. I think it is overlooked because all the "smart" people from Yale, Harvard, Oxford, etc., were the ones who came up with the idea and it goes against the laws of God. That premise is that one cannot spend a household, a business or a government into prosperity. In the case of America, the economic advisors in whom our past two presidents have trusted, sold the idiotic idea that the government could borrow and spend its way to prosperity. It doesn't work. Anybody who has ever had to balance a checkbook knows this. The Bible says in Romans 13:8, "Owe no man anything."



The Lord gave the nation of Israel many commandments, that if followed, the nation would be blessed and as a people, they would prosper. Deuteronomy 15:5, 6 says, "Only if thou carefully hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God to observe to do all these commandments which I command thee this day. For the Lord thy God blesseth thee, as he promised thee: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, but thou shalt not borrow; and thou shalt reign over many nations, but they shall not reign over thee." These are principles of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. But our government in America has denied God, separated itself from him, and has lost its bearings of good sense and of sound responsibility.



We are now beginning to see the harsh reality of the folly of these godless humanists who coveted the work of your hands through taxes and policies, and have squandered your inheritance. The spending that these scoundrels incur on your behalf piles up at a rate of about $100,000 every 20 seconds. And at some point, that one dollar that falls upon the national debt will cause it all to crash down--the proverbial straw that breaks the camel's back. Each dollar the government takes from you and, in turn, borrows more to add to this debt, is a warning that we as a people must make a radical turn back to the Lord and His commandments or face the consequences. It is time to measure leadership against the plumb line of scripture rather than by the feather that tickles the ear.

Rise in food stamp use represents opportunity for the Church



The original food stamp program started in May 1939 as an experimental program during high unemployment in the era of the Great Depression. The program was stopped in 1943. Another pilot was conducted over a three year period when John F. Kennedy came into office. It wasn't until the socialist Great Society programs of Lyndon Johnson that food stamps became a permanent program in 1964. Now its known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, and recipients on the government dole have grown some 61 percent in the past four years, to a record of over 44 million Americans, costing taxpayers more than $68 billion, according to ABC News.



Did you know that 14% of Americans are now receiving taxpayer funded food assistance? That food stamp participation has grown so rapidly demonstrates--to me--two things: First that socialism in the United States is approaching a critical mass, something that was never intended to be a part of the American experience. And my second is derived from the first: That the Christian church in America is failing in its duties. When Johnson and his Democratic controlled Congress expanded the government's role in providing for the social needs of Americans, the Church in America at the time was applauding the wonderful humanitarian concept about the war on poverty. This was a pivotal moment for our nation.



The Church was all too eager and willing to abrogate its Christ-commanded responsibility to the government, translated: taxpayer. This, in my opinion, was a major marker in the downfall of Christianity in this country and the ultimate rise and institutionalization of secular humanism. It coincided with evolution being taught in the public schools as scientific fact rather than theory; with the eventual removal of teacher-led prayer in school, the sexual revolution and abortion. If it was a socialist leaning Congress passing such legislation that codified the secular humanist movement in America, it was the Church abrogating its responsibilities that opened the floodgates.



Even today, the Church in America is more focussed on strange doctrines of man, or self indulgence of what people think God wants for them instead of from them, or the government providing social justice than it is even trying to fulfill its duties as prescribed by Christ. There are many examples, one found in Matthew 25:35, 36, "For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me." The rise in food stamp use is an excellent opportunity for the Church in America. There is great blessing in caring for one another--it builds both the recipient and the giver.
