The Two-Edged Sword And Its Prophetic Work

The Two-Edged Sword And Its Prophetic Work

A week after the Washington Post released to the public names of contractors with top secret clearances, another deliberate release to the news media on classified information was perpetrated by WikiLeaks--a whistleblower website, which according to the White House "opposes US policy in Afghanistan." These two releases are a double edged sword that underscore possible prophetic directions for America. On one hand, this information as revealed could very well assist America's enemies. On the other hand, this information reveals how this White House is mishandling the complicated affairs of national security. Notwithstanding, the prophetic destiny of America may be determined by the action of its citizens.

With the death toll of American troops rising significantly since the last presidential election, Americans are starting to question wartime policies. The president has overseen an "about face" policy toward Islam, the worldwide purveyor of terrorism, slavery, and human rights violations hiding behind a shroud of religion. He has said that America is no longer a Christian nation. He has made it policy that no longer can the military refer to the war on terrorism or use radical Islam in connection with the word terrorism. He has torpedoed relations with Israel to show the Muslim world that he means business. All the while, deaths of US servicemen in Afghanistan continue to escalate.

Enter the anti-war mainstream media crowd exposing documents and constructing scenarios that indicate this Administration's confusion in prosecuting a war with no clear objectives. American GIs are not allowed to fire on Afghanis unless they can positively identify where the bullets of the enemy are coming from. This policy of restrained engagement combined with the desire to appease Islam is recipe for unmitigated disaster in a very real war time situation. The Administration is playing politics with American lives in harm's way. The Administration has blamed the WikiLeaks reports on the previous Bush Administration, then discredits WikiLeaks as opposing US policy in Afghanistan. Which is it?

The time to blame the previous Administration, while in truth made many mistakes, is over. This president has had 18 months to establish his policies. He has done so with the iron fist of one-party rule. If there were any president that has remade America, this one has, including degrading our sons and daughters in the military. Hebrews 4:12 depicts the truth, the word of God, as "quick and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit..." It is the time for the Word of God to pierce the soul and spirit of this nation, dividing asunder the evil schemes of evildoers. Repentance is a difficult possession to surrender, but better to surrender our pride than our nation.

The unmitigated disaster of change

The unmitigated disaster of change

Nearly 60% of Americans, 58%, now say they have little or no faith in the man who occupies the Oval Office to make the right decisions for the nation and 54% disapprove of the job he is doing. The Democratic dominated Congress has even less confidence of the American people. This according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll which also indicates that 55% of Americans believe the president is a socialist. According to a CBS News poll, 82% believe the economy is in bad shape and 86% think the president's policies have either hurt or have had no positive effect on their lives, while only 13% believe his policies have helped them.

Meanwhile, record levels of government spending have pushed the country's budget deficit over a trillion dollars with three months still to go in the fiscal year which ends September 30. AP reports many private economists are forecasting that the deficit for the entire budget year will reach $1.3 trillion, the second highest deficit on record, last year's $1.4 trillion being the all time high. The White House is forecasting that the deficit for the 2011 budget year will remain above $1 trillion for a third straight year, projecting an imbalance of $1.27 trillion. And the administration predicts the imbalances over the next decade will total $8.5 trillion. Added to the national debt of over $14 trillion, every man, woman and child's share is over $40,000.

This is reminiscent of the years of President Jimmy Carter, arguably the worst president of our lifetime, until now. Carter's policies resulted in deficits, high interest rates and double digit unemployment in many parts of the nation. Carter also advocated using energy costs to control the people, similarly to what this administration today is attempting with cap and trade. Carter was also an appeaser of terrorists as he welcomed dialogue with Palestinian Liberation Organization chief terrorist Yassir Arafat. Carter was responsible for ushering in the modern era of terrorism by helping the Ayatollah's gain power in Iran through not supporting the Shah.

But Carter, in four disastrous years, did not do as much damage to this country as the current president has in 18 months. This is a socialist takeover of America that is unprecedented. It is an attack on the very moral fiber of America from wealth redistribution to refusing to enforce immigration and election laws. This president has also mandated that America is not fighting a war on terror, nor is it fighting against Islam. The homosexual agenda has advanced unimpeded under this White House, and abortion is aided through the new socialized medicine. Proverbs 14:34 says, Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people." Have you had enough change yet?

Prophetic Isaiah 59 judgment may be falling on America

Prophetic Isaiah 59 judgment may be falling on America

The moral condition of the United States may be prompting a prophetic Isaiah 59 judgment on Americans because as Isaiah 59:4 says, "None call for justice, nor any plead for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity." Attorney General Eric Holder's Justice Department appears to be turning against the citizens it vows to protect. One of Holder's first acts was to announce that the terrorists being held in Guantanamo Bay would be tried in US civilian courts. This would have afforded these terrorists the same Constitutional rights as American citizens. These terrorists were not American citizens and were out to kill Americans. Yet, Holder wanted to treat them as citizens.

In June, before even the facts surrounding the BP oil spill in the Gulf were investigated, Holder announced that he was initiating a criminal investigation against BP, saying, "If we find evidence of illegal behavior, we will be extremely forceful in our response." The man who occupies the Oval Office then slapped a moratorium on Gulf oil drilling. Holder defended the action in federal court drawing criticism from the judge, who said "the Court is persuaded that it is only a matter of time before more business and jobs and livelihoods will be lost. The defendants (sic the White House) trivialize such losses." Holder lost. Americans continue to lose as oil rigs are abandoning the Gulf for friendlier political waters.

Then Holder's Justice Department dropped a voter intimidation case it had already won against New Black Panther Party member Samir Shabazz, a militant Islamist who intimidated white voters in Philadelphia during the last presidential election. Shabazz said that he hated white people and that the only way the Black man is to gain his freedom is by killing white babies. But Holder's Justice Department is going to investigate the involuntary manslaughter conviction of a white police officer who killed a black man who was resisting arrest. Holder wants to know if he can press federal charges against the officer for a racially motivated crime.

That's not all. The federal government has refused to secure the border with Mexico, turning a blind eye to raging drug wars endangering US citizens. Arizona passed a law to secure its borders. Holder is suing Arizona for interfering in America's foreign policy and anti-terrorism efforts. In addition, Holder told CBS's "Face the Nation" that he may also sue Arizona for racial profiling. Isaiah 59:14 says, "And judgment is turned away backward, and justice stands afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter." Here "judgment" means "verdicts." Holder's decisions hold no justice according to America's laws, but in our fallen condition what are we to expect according to God's laws?

A perfect storm brewing over our nation's independence

A perfect storm brewing over our nation's independence

There could very well be a perfect storm brewing for the United States. There are three components to the storm: 1) the Middle East situation with Israel, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq; 2) the Gulf oil spill, which some believe could be more disastrous than the flood of Noah's time, and 3) the worsening economic climate that could be exacerbated by the fall out from the oil spill. I am not bringing these things to your attention to instill fear--no, far from it. These are times when we need to press in to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in prayer and supplication. We are a nation that appears to be under judgment for the wickedness that we have tolerated, and it is time to be true citizens and do something about it.

Consider that DEBKAfile is reporting that the United States has brought a third carrier into the Persian Gulf and the US now has some 10,000 combat personnel. The war in Afghanistan has seen increasing casualties during June. According to former National Security Council Middle East Affairs Senior Director Flynt Leverett, the Administration's policies there are setting the stage for a full scale civil war, which favors al Qaeda. Turkey, according to DEBKAfile, is moving toward establishing a new Middle East bloc by joining forces in the region that are dedicated to Israel's destruction. This may well complete the complement of nations in the Ezekiel 38 prophecy.

Market Oracle's Joshua Burnett believes the Gulf oil spill could be the worst disaster since the flood of Noah's time. He has written that hurricanes in the Gulf could pick up oil and deposit it 300 miles inland from the coast. This could poison the vegetation and freshwater sources, resulting in large scale evacuations and massive refugee needs. He says this is the best case scenario. Worse case, Burnett reports, is the methane bubble that caused the oil well to blow, could explode causing a tsunami that would wipe out 80% of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. The UK Telegraph reports that Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke may print money to stop the deflationary trend of America's continued recession.

Economic, natural disaster, war time and man-made disasters are tenuously on the American horizon. Some of it is coming in the wake of pressure on Israel to give up its covenant land to terrorists. Some of it is the result of Americans relinquishing their duties of good citizenship by electing evil people. And some of it is due to the failure of technology and bureaucracy. We need a 2 Chronicles 7:14 edict to all in our nation: "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." Let us this weekend of our Independence celebration, stand in the gap in this way for our nation.
