Greatest speech of his presidency; but what of its intent?
By and far it was the best speech of his presidency and arguably of his political career. The president called for the nation to unify and to "pause for a moment and make sure that we are talking with each other in a way that heals, not a way that wounds." There were somber moments describing the lives of those who were killed by the Tucson gunman, and the heroic effort of those who lived to save lives or to be saved. He spoke of those who were killed or wounded as if they were life-long friends and he took the time to introduce them to the rest of the nation. He encouraged all Americans to live up to the child-like expectations of nine year old Christina Taylor Green for our nation. But something was amiss.
The president's plea to Americans was civility. And this is indeed what we as Americans have lost one for another. There are so many things that have divided us as a people. While evil is at the root of this division, political parties have provided a spirit of derision for both reason and justness, even the truth of the Word of God. George Washington warned against the spirit of party in his Farewell Address, saying, "You cannot shield yourselves too much against the jealousies and heartburnings which spring from these misrepresentations; they tend to render alien to each other those who ought to be bound together by fraternal affection." Certainly, as Americans we should be bound by fraternal affection.
The man at the White House seized the opportunity of tragedy to address the nation. His remarks were reminiscent of the campaign trail in 2008 when he pledged to bring unity and hope. And the atmosphere at the University of Arizona was more like a campaign rally than a memorial service--kind of over the top. Even Associated Press in its report wrote that the speech, "by turns somber and hopeful, at times took on the tone of an exuberant pep rally as he heralded the men who wrestled the gunman to the ground, the woman who grabbed the shooter's ammunition, the doctors and nurses who treated the injured...the crowd erupted in multiple standing ovations as each was singled out for praise."
If not for the appearance of a campaign rally at a memorial service; If not for his own political party and his own past words contributing to this great divide; If not for a week's worth of words like "civility" meaning "do not criticize politicians";--his words may bring hope and healing. The question before us is was this tragedy used for self promotion or was honor and memorial properly served? The answer may be found in those "Together we Thrive" campaign T-shirts draped on the back of all the chairs at the beginning of this "memorial service." Notwithstanding, we as fellow Americans truly should abide in the words of Jesus in John 13:34, "That ye love one another: as I have loved you."

Calls to outlaw criticism of officeholders in wake of Tucson
The small mindedness of some people is beyond pale. There are liberal politicians out there in the wake of the Tucson shootings trying to ban any kind of rhetoric that may "incite"--someone to violence against a Congressman, Senator or federal Judge. Pennsylvania Democratic Congressman Robert Brady seems to believe that the political debate over socialized health care and the subsequent rhetoric during the previous campaign season is inciting violence. Brady says he is going to introduce legislation that would make it a federal crime to use language or symbols that could be "perceived" as threatening or inciting violence against a member of Congress or a judge.
Hillary Clinton and Al Gore have been quoted in the past as saying that "no good crisis" should be wasted. Brady's promotion of censorship against anyone who speaks in opposition to a politician is no exception. Graphics, media, words, and demonstrations have been used since before our nation was founded to protest the deeds and positions of politicians. Its called free speech and it is protected by the US Constitution--another document that liberals say is racist, unable to be understood, and out of date. Liberals, socialists, communists all want to limit any kind of opposition to their utopian ideas. Brady, by the way, is a member of the Socialist Party USA and the House Progressive Caucus.
Many liberal outlets have pointed a finger at Sarah Palin for publishing a "target map" on her website using images of gun sights to identify the districts of 20 House Democrats up for election in last year's mid-terms, including Gabrielle Giffords, the Congresswoman who was critically wounded in the Tucson shootings. Leftist Daily Kos founder Markos Moulitsas tweeted on Saturday, "Mission accomplished Sarah Palin." But Moulitsas has previously posted on June 25, 2008 a "target list" with Giffords listed as one of many Democrats who should be targeted with primary opponents. One of the Kos bloggers said that Giffords was "dead to me" for voting against Nancy Pelosi for Democratic Leader. That blog since has been removed.
Evil doesn't need politicians to advance, but perhaps many politicians need evil to advance their dark agendas. Jesus said in Matthew 15:19, "For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies." And he told us in Matthew 12:34, "out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks." The days in which we live are dark. We have often elected leaders whose standards for morals and ethics are manifestos of men rather than the firm foundation of the word of God. This is the true threat that these evildoers know will remove them from power--if the people wake up and open their eyes and see and hear by the word of God rather than by the doctrines of men.

When Evil is not enough: Pinning the Loughner Profile on Conservative Mind Thought
Jared Lee Loughner, 22, has killed six people, including a nine year old girl and a Federal judge. He wounded 12 including, US Representative Gabrielle Giffords, an Arizona Democrat. The liberal media is trying to make sense of the assassination attempt by implying that Loughner was a right wing, Bible-banging, TEA Party-type person. But the facts about this young man will prove much different. A YouTube video posted under the killer's account that The Daily Jot investigated says that he does not trust in God. The site also said that others referring to Loughner as a terrorist was Ad hominem, likely meaning that the comparison was "to the person," or correct.
From that video, I can discern that this man was not a Christian. He identified himself as someone who did not agree with the government. And he identified himself as some self-tailored terrorist, saying, "Thus the argument to call me a terrorist is ad hominem." He wrote, "Every United States Military recruit at MEPS in Phoenix is receiving one mini bible before the tests...I didn't write a belief on my Army application, and the recruiter wrote on the application: None." He further says, "The government is implying mind control and brainwash on the people by controlling grammar. No! I won't pay debt with a currency that's not backed by gold and silver! No! I won't trust in God!"
Haaretz, an Israeli news outlet, is reporting that Congresswoman Giffords is Jewish and that Loughner had posted on his now-removed Facebook and MySpace pages that his favorite books and readings were Hitler's Mein Kampf and the Communist Manifesto. Laughner was rejected from the US Military in 2008. He was booted from Pima Community College in September and was told that he would require mental clearance if he wanted to return--this according to the New York Times. His high school classmates say he was a user of marijuana and was obsessed with the Mayan calendar that predicted the end of the world in 2012, that his politics were liberal and that he was generally very disturbed.
When these tragedies occur, the news media tries to make them a political or religious deed, when in reality they may just be the result of evil that has befallen this day and age. The fact is, evil doesn't need a religion or a political party to commit its deeds. The word "evil" appears in some 568 verses of the Bible. In John 3:19, Jesus says of those not believing in the Son of God, "And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil." When evil rises up as it has in Tucson, it shows us all how much work we have before us as Christians. We live in a dark and dying world, but we are to be the champions of the one true light--Jesus Christ.

Repealing socialized medicine--results speak louder than votes or words
The overwhelming party line vote to repeal socialized medicine, or "Obamacare," is a symbolic and political measure more than an effective vote that will in actuality result in rolling back what some courts are already deeming unconstitutional. Americans should not be fooled into believing false hopes that socialism is not alive and well in the newly elected Congress. The Bible says of the end times in 2 Timothy 2:13, "But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived." Rest assured there is deception rampant in Congress and the news media over the repeal of the beloved big government foray into socialism.
The question will remain, "Who can you trust?" Republicans have made good on their campaign promise to schedule a vote to repeal socialized healthcare. Democrats already have mobilized their sympathizers in the news media to vilify those who are working against Obamacare. They are liars, ogres, mean spirited, the liberals say--drawing attention away from the vast evidence that Congressional cost estimates far exceed the nation's ability to pay for socialized medicine, the circuitous route of public funding of abortions, the many, many burdens it puts on employers, the lack of any authentic and effective health insurance for those who apply, and the mere fact that Americans overwhelmingly reject the entire concept.
Who can you trust? Certainly, not the media--the media is biased. Certainly, not the Democrats. The Democrats are the socialists. Remember that after the election, 78 of the 186 Democrats in the US House of Representatives, many of them holding leadership positions, are members of the House Progressive Caucus, and 90% of those are also members of the Socialist Party USA, according to the party's website. And you cannot trust the Republicans, especially the Republicans. They must be held accountable to not only pass legislation that will not see the light of day in the Senate, and would face a certain veto at the White House, but also to pursue to the brink of violence, a repeal of the socialist laws that have been passed.
Being that neither the media nor the political parties can be trusted, our trust must be in Jesus Christ. If we trust in Christ as exhorted in 2 Corinthians 3:4, "And such trust have we thought Christ to God-ward"; If we, as the Apostle Paul writes in Romans 12:21, "overcome evil with good"; If we are ambassadors as portrayed in Ephesians 6:20, "that therein I may speak boldly, as I out to speak"; If we, having done all, stand; then these marauders and coveters will at the very least be held accountable or be voted out of office. If they do not hold the line to the Christ-centered standards of good government, we must shout out, vote out, impeach out. We must set the example of our behavior immediately.

Islamic Pirates behind record food cost jump
The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization says in its monthly report that world food prices jumped to record levels in December, largely because of higher costs for grain, oilseed and sugar. The Financial Times reports that oil prices for importing nations have increased by a collective $200 billion by the end of 2010. So much so that the International Energy Agency predicts that "Oil prices are entering a dangerous zone for the global economy" and prices reaching a $100 a barrel are becoming a threat to the economic recovery. Oil also impacts the price of food production and transportation. A perfect storm is brewing where millions could starve to death in the not so distant future.
At the center of the crisis, which seems to occur whenever there is breathing room in the economy to cleave off extra money, are the Islamic-controlled Oil and Petroleum Exporting Countries, or OPEC. This monopoly of oil producers seems to tightly ease and expand oil production just enough to sap an extra couple of hundred billion dollars from Western nations whenever industry gets rolling. The net effect is that the world economy slows a bit, and inflation jumps as prices for all commodities, all utilities, all transportation serve as the Islamic highwaymen in robbing the world of its wealth. In 2010, the European Union, for example, has seen oil import costs rise $70 billion, as many countries face insolvency.
The United States, however, leads western nations in the Islamic shakedown, having oil import prices jump by some $72 billion in 2010. At this point, the economists are saying that oil cost ratio to the Gross Domestic Product rivals the financial crisis of two years ago. Making matters worse is the soaring debt run up by government leaders who mistakenly believe they can steal from citizens and incur record debt to buy the way out of debt to prosperity. There is no logic whatsoever in this approach. But what does it mean for the common man? It means that food prices and the cost of everything it takes to survive in society may go beyond levels of survival. Nations could collapse. People could starve. Survival is key.
Survival is the will to survive and having faith in Christ when he said in Matthew 28:20, "And, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world." He spoke similar encouragement to the Apostle Paul in Acts 18:10, "For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee." Throughout history, man has survived far worse than OPEC and government crooks. Christians survived the Roman era persecution in the early days of the church by banding together and relying on God. Jesus, speaking of food and clothing, told us in Matthew 6:33, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." We have Christ and each other. We can survive.

The prophetic destiny of "an holy nation"
"The time has come for a new American emancipation-a great national drive to tear down economic barriers and liberate the spirit of enterprise in the most distressed areas of our country. My friends, together we can do this, and do it we must, so help me God...If not us, who? And if not now, when? It must be done by all of us going forward..." These were the words of President Ronald Reagan in his Second Inaugural Address, on Monday, January 21, 1985. The election of 1984 was affirmation that Reagan's economic policies and his bully pro-American, pro-moral agenda was working. He was reversing the policies of the failed socialist agenda of Jimmy Carter, which left the nation in an economic and foreign policy abyss.
The 2010 election was also a referendum on a socialist agenda--a referendum that rejected outright and with force the failing policies of the counter-American. Yet, these soldiers of socialism, who were kicked out of office for their dastardly deeds that left our nation economically bankrupt, came back and worked more of their evil in a lame duck session. Some of those who were re-elected surely did not get the message. We as a nation still have leadership that wishes to remake America into a socialist, perhaps even communist, so-called democracy. More czars, more power grabs, more spending, more laws that are made but never read, more freedoms taken away, more immorality through laws and regulations.
In the past, Americans have always rebounded by standing against such tyranny, such evil. One of the problems now is that whoever we elect cannot be trusted, even those who call themselves Christians. It is time, as Reagan so eloquently said, that the move away from this godless society must be done by all of us going forward. You see, the battle really isn't about socialism or communism or tyranny. Those are just results of the battle. The battle is over the souls of citizens. I maintain that if Christians in this nation were actually moving in the spiritual gifts as prescribed specifically by the Holy Scriptures, this nation would be righted, even as end times prophecy moves rapidly forward.
The Apostle Peter prophesied over you that you might step into your destiny. 1 Peter 2:9 says, "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar (God's own) people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light." Verse 12 says, "Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation." You see, we are a holy nation--we as Christians--and we need to take this seriously and as Paul wrote in Romans 12:21, "Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good." If not us, who? If not now, when?

The mirror of national and theological failure
A nation is a reflection of its people and its leadership. There are many who have been telling me that our nation is lost; that there is no way to get it back; that we as a people are relegated to just living out our days in a quiet Christian manner. This Jot is to give you hope and understanding that that is not God's will either for your life or your nation. As a Christian people, and I am talking to just those who know Christ, we are told by Jesus through a parable in Luke 19:13, "Occupy till I come." This is not a passive word, it is an active word, meaning to "busy oneself with." By accepting the dark conditions around us as merely "the times we are living in", we are not measuring up.
The generation in which we now live and the one previous has either failed or is failing at Christianity. We have allowed ourselves to get so far off track with various winds of doctrine that serve as distractions that we are not about occupying, but rather indulgence. Many of us think that by following this preacher or that doctrine that we are doing something for the kingdom. Perhaps we are, but perhaps also, we are not being as effective as we could without the distractions. There are many well-meaning, God loving people who write me every day asking "What can I do?" Others say that the idea of a "Revivalution" in this nation will not work, that our country, as our Founding Fathers knew it, is finished.
If our country is finished, and there can be no revival of God's Word, ethics, mandates here in this nation, then we as a people have lost our way--I mean, truly, we as Christians have lost our way. I, for one, can not and will not accept it. And I ask you to join me in refusing to accept it and in dedicating this year toward reviving your heart and renewing your mind with the gospel, the gospel only. When we understand the gospel, we will revive our Church first, and our nation will follow. It is not about buildings or hefty salaries or numbers in attendance, its about winning souls by allowing the Holy Spirit to work through you; by being obedient to the Lord's words. And yes, our task will not be without difficulties.
Jesus told Paul in Acts 18:9,10, "Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace. For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city." This is for us as well. With media the way it is more people know of Christ than ever before, but we can see that they do not embrace Him. Romans 10:14 says, "How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?" I might ask one more question: How do you know what to preach if you do not know the gospel, or only know it through someone with another agenda? You are Christ's ambassador...embrace it, change the world.
