Its no laughing matter

I love laughter. I joke around a lot. In fact, my wife reminds me often about when it is appropriate to joke around and, especially, when it is not. And I have learned over the years that there are boundaries. Sometimes I joke about something to make a point, or even to make someone uncomfortable. A joke often is told in a very dire situation to break the intensity. A joke can be used as a way to illustrate the truth of a situation. The man who occupies the Oval Office was meeting with his Jobs Council about the horrible condition of the US economy. And after being told that his projects were taking too long, he interjected, "Shovel-ready was not as...uh...shovel-ready as we expected." They all burst out in laughter.

These people and the president are charged with economic recovery. More people have lost their homes than at any time in American history. Unemployment is over nine percent, but in reality about one in five of those wanting a job do not have one. There is White House supported labor unrest. This particular president has spent more taxpayer money than any of his predecessors--combined. American suffering seems to only have begun as the national debt piles up and total government commitments reach over $500,000 for every family. The ability to pursue happiness is fast becoming a distant dream turned nightmare due to these policies. And he's telling jokes about his failures? And the Jobs Council is laughing?

We are involved in at least five wars. This president has pledged more by saying he will put the full weight of America's resources behind promoting "reform" in the Middle East--this means that he is committing America to overthrowing governments and nation building. And he is working with terrorists--sworn enemies of the United States--to accomplish these policies. Yes, let us be real. The Muslim Brotherhood is a terrorist sponsoring organization with a plan to create "Civilization Jihad" to overthrow the United States. American taxpayer money is funding a branch of al Qaeda in Libya. This president has said he wants Israel to retreat to indefensible borders in the name of peace.

This is no laughing matter. Words can say anything. Actions speak volumes. This president and his administration is just merrily going along and destroying the Republic. From marriage to jobs to housing to foreign policy, all things of American exceptionalism are being destroyed by this administration. He is telling jokes about it. Solomon wrote in Ecclesiastes 7:6, "For as the crackling of thorns under a pot, so is the laughter of the fool." There are many in this nation who are crackling under the thorns of immoral, unethical and ungodly government policies. We may laugh to break the intensity. But for us, Proverbs 14:13 is true: "Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is heaviness."

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!
