The Way its Done
Many have been asking me what we can do to turn around the nation. I believe in The Great Commission. Jesus told us in Matthew 28:19, 20, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world." He said in Mark 13:15, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." And in Acts 1:8, "But ye shall receive power, after the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."
These are pretty plain commandments. And I contend that if each of us who call ourselves Christians were to do exactly what Jesus commanded in these three verses, there would be no pressing political, economic, social, or moral problems. Only when we do not do what the Lord tells us is when we sail into troubled water. It truly is a matter of heart. What do you want more? The idols of day to day striving, or to live in a society that has been evangelized and people follow the will of God. Think about it. The Apostle Paul said in Romans 10:17, "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Verse 14 asks, "and how shall they hear without a preacher?" That preacher is you and me.
Some examples. A Texas judge banned prayer at a graduation. The judge has a history of anti-Christian rulings. The AGAPE Movement in Wichita Falls has asked for his resignation and is pressing to remove this judge from the bench. AGAPE is recruiting Christians in other areas to do similar acts. Kay Godwin in Georgia is inviting ten people to her house. She asked me to prepare the "10 issues leading to the demise of America." She is going to share these with her ten guests. She is asking each of the ten guests to hold meetings at their houses with ten guests and share the same. After five such meetings, if everybody did their jobs, 100,000 people can be reached.
This past weekend, over 50 church leaders in the Frederick, Md area gathered at the fairgrounds for Convoy of Hope. Over 1,200 volunteers reached out to the community in the name of Christ. Some 5,000 people were prayed for, handed clothing, food, shoes, given haircuts, and even had their feet washed in a demonstration of Christ's love. These are all things that change people's hearts. They start with a vision that the Lord gave. You have to lead or follow, but don't just do nothing. It took us a long time to get into the mess we are in because Christians retreated to their pews on Sunday instead of going to the "uttermost part of the earth." It starts by repentance, prayer, then action. Look in the mirror, God's got something special for you.
Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!
