Bondage or Obedience
This government is more out of control every day. As a Christian American, I am mindful that our freedoms are taken lightly by a ruling class that out of one side of its mouth says it is Christian and out of the other side gives orders that satisfy the prince of darkness. Trouble is, the Church as we know it in the United States, does not want to take a stand for what is truly right. Oh, yes, there are a whole lot of teachings from the pulpit about self improvement, personal this and that, asking God to be all that you can be. But there is not a lot about doing what God wants you to do. Jesus says in Matthew 6:33, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."
Somewhere along the line, hopefully before you are well into the path of starvation, homelessness, slavery, or other persecutions, the collective Church might ask, "What am I doing here?" Those things that the Lord said would be added unto you are not riches in the material sense. Christ didn't even have a pillow upon which to lay his head. Those things to be added are food, drink, clothing--the essentials in life for which your heavenly Father knows of your needs. Are we so busy attaining the goals of secular humanism as Christians, that we no longer have an appetite, let alone a stomach, for civic responsibility? Did not Christ command us to make disciples? This requires civic interaction on his behalf.
When you throw a rock in a still pond, it creates ripples across the pond. The bigger the rock, the bigger and longer the ripples. One small rock can affect a very large pond. God has blessed us with a tremendous nation. And as Christians we are grafted in to the promise of Abraham. Being salt and light to our families and communities impacts the nation, especially when we all are obedient. I do not believe for one second that if we as Christians were operating the way that Christ commanded that one single leader of our nation would be out of step with the underpinnings of the Holy Scriptures. There would be separation of church and state, but not separation of spirit and soul.
If we were doing what Christ told us to do right here in our neighborhoods, there would be a ripple effect felt all the way to Washington, and beyond the shores of our great nation. Allowing satan to render you paralyzed because of your "wants" or because the preacher is telling you God wants you to be all you can be is tantamount to disobedience and idol worship. God wants you to be what He wants you to be, not all that you want to be. 1 Samuel 15:22 says, "Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams." Will it take falling into total physical bondage and persecution the likes we have never seen to bring us out of our self indulgence? Can we not begin today making a difference in the name of Jesus to others, thus overcoming the evil in our nation with good?
Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!
