Now is the time to strike

The man who occupies the Oval Office and his political advisors were hoping for a big boost in popularity with the Osama bin Laden news. In announcing the death of bin Laden, the president took every bit of credit he could without appearing as if he were the one who fired the shots. He said, "...I determined that we had enough intelligence to take action, and authorized an operation to get Osama bin Laden and bring him to justice. Today, at my direction, the United States launched a targeted operation against that compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. A small team of Americans carried out the operation with extraordinary courage and capability...After a firefight, they killed Osama bin Laden and took custody of his body."

Recent polls suggest that the president's approval rating, in the negatives, remained the same. For example, a Rasmussen poll showed that 37% of Americans strongly disapprove of the president, while only 24% strongly approve of the job he is doing. This is a minus 13 approval differential. And his overall approval is at 48% according to Rasmussen. In my political days, we knew that if an opponent, especially an incumbent, fell below 50% approval, he was in deep trouble. It would appear that Americans are very skeptical about this president and his Administration. It would appear that public opinion has moved from a cautious attitude toward this White House to one of cynicism and skepticism.

Yet in the wake of these numbers and increasing numbers of Americans expressing distrust with this administration, there has been no proof offered of bin Laden's killing. This Administration also took four years to "release" the president's birth certificate, which has been regarded as a fake by numerous forensic experts. A large number of Americans still do not believe that he is Constitutionally eligible to hold the office. As the days unfold, the president still has not released proof positive of the bin Laden operation. His advisors do not want to release pictures, fearing the peaceful Muslim religion will retaliate with a vengeance. How brave they are until they have to provide the world with their evidence.

Americans by and large no longer have confidence that their government is telling the truth. Too many "spins" have accumulated over the years. The Lord is giving the Christian community, who knows the truth, an opportunity to reestablish truth and accountability in the American government. It is time to strike with the full force of accountability through righteousness. As Paul wrote in Romans 13:12, "The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light." We must stand on what we know is right. We must speak boldly as we ought to speak. We must overcome evil with good. The citizens of this country are ready to listen.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!
